"Jesus" means "Saviour."

The greatest of all names is “Jesus”. His Name means “Saviour” – “You are to give Him the Name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). When we call Him Saviour, we call Him by His Name.

A Great Saviour, A Glorious Hope

    • Jesus is our Saviour (Matthew 1:21).

What a wonderful message we have here in the opening chapter of the New Testament. There's nothing better than this. We're not left with the impossible task of saving ourselves. We have a Saviour. His Name is Jesus. He came from the glory of heaven. He leads us to the glory of heaven. What a glorious hope this is! Our sin will no longer have dominion over us! Our salvation will be complete! This is glory. It is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes (Psalm 118:23).
