Matthew 7:24–27 NASB95
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. “The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
Where do you have your Foundation?
Are you rooted in the knowledge of God as your Father and you his child
The things you do
The Athlete (sticks)
Turn Rocks to Bread (if you are the son of man, do this)
Man shall not live on bread alone
The things you have
Bow before me and I’ll give you the earth
You shall worship the Lord your god and serve him only
Who others say you are (what others think)
The girl with the boyfriend (straw)
Top of the temple (let everyone see you)
You shall not test the Lord Your God

Resilience

Notice that the premise here is that a storm WILL come
the only difference is how well you are prepared for it
You hear the verse from Isiah 54 that says “no weapon formed against me shall prosper.
notice that there is still a weapon formed against you
a soldier doesn’t go into battle without his gear
Trials in life will come
(blessed are those who are persecuted for my name..)
Jesus still’s the storms when we call out to him in times of need
Matthew 8:23–27 NASB95
When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing!” He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm. The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
Those whom God Rebukes, he loves
Hebrews 12:6 NASB95
For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He scourges every son whom He receives.”
We will have tribulation, but Jesus is the Overcomer
John 16:33 NASB95
“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
In Jesus there is Peace, In the world you have tribulation
Is your foundation set in Christ?
Are you plugged into the source of life?
turn on a lamp without power
light a candle without wax
Struck Down but not destroyed
2 Corinthians 4:7–10 NASB95
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
When our foundation is set in Christ, nothing else can destroy us, though we are fragile
He is jealous for me Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy When all of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory And I realize just how beautiful You are And how great Your affections are for me

Strong Foundation

Matthew 7:24 NASB95
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Altar Call- Even So Come

Matthew 25:1–13 NASB95
“Then the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. “Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent. “For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. “Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep. “But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him. “Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. “The foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ “But the prudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ “And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut. “Later the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open up for us.’ “But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ “Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.
Are you prepared for the return of Christ (foolish and prudent virgins)
James 4:17 NASB95
Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.
