God Your Victory

Genesis 6:8–13 NKJV
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. 9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. 13 And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
vs. 11 the earth was filled with Violence
Hamas: Violence, specific of physical violence, hatred characterized by violence

Exodus 17:1–4 NKJV
1 Then all the congregation of the children of Israel set out on their journey from the Wilderness of Sin, according to the commandment of the Lord, and camped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink. 2 Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said, “Give us water, that we may drink.” So Moses said to them, “Why do you contend with me? Why do you tempt the Lord?” 3 And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained against Moses, and said, “Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?” 4 So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me!”
What is our first response when in the Desert?
Exodus 17:5–7 NKJV
5 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go on before the people, and take with you some of the elders of Israel. Also take in your hand your rod with which you struck the river, and go. 6 Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7 So he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the contention of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”
Ungratefulness is never satisfied
Exodus 17:8 NKJV
8 Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
Amalek was kin to Isreal:
Remember the story of Jacob and Esau?
Amalek were the descendants of Esau
In Deuteronomy 25 God tells Moses to literally erase, cancel or obliterate the nation of Amalek off the face of the Earth
This will become important to our story later
Why would God ask them to do that?
Deuteronomy 25:17–18 NKJV
17 “Remember what Amalek did to you on the way as you were coming out of Egypt, 18 how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he did not fear God.
The rear ranks:
Usually was comprised of the sick, the elderly, the woman and children
The soft targets
God hates it when people target children
Luke 17:2 NKJV
2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
Why aren’t we protecting soft targets?
Leaving them open for the enemy to take
Culture is demanding our children
Where are the people fighting for them?
Exodus 17:9–10 NKJV
9 And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.” 10 So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
These weren’t trained warriors:
They were recently released slaves
They had no military training
Probably strong men in there but probably not qualified, no formal training, probably not the right people for the Job
But Moses and Joshua were obedient
Moses to God and Joshua to leadership
Psalm 20:7 NKJV
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
When you get into a battle where is your trust?
We might not be qualified or even experienced but when we’re obedient, everything we need is in our hands
It might not make sense or even be practical
Joshua questioning Moses?
Exodus 17:11–12 NKJV
11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
Band:
Lift up your hands first:
look to where your help comes from
When battles happen in your life who do you have in your corner?
When you get tired and weak
Who’s here to come along side you in your battles
Who’s going to fight with you?
Get people in your corner
Exodus 17:14–16 NKJV
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.” 15 And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner; 16 for he said, “Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”

The fight withe the Amalekites:
Fought with them for over 400 year
1 Samuel 15 you see the first King of Isreal Saul fighting against them
God told them numerous times to utterly erase them from the face of the earth
1 Samuel 15:22–23 NKJV
22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”
There are things in your life and you know what they are that you have been struggling with for a long time
It might be habits, memories, un-forgiveness, sin, lack of discipline, lust maybe you lack a healthy view of you as a person,
We keep on having to wage these wars in our lives because we leave doors open for them to creep back in
1 Samuel 15:26 NKJV
26 But Samuel said to Saul, “I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.”
1 Samuel 15:32–33 NKJV
32 Then Samuel said, “Bring Agag king of the Amalekites here to me.” So Agag came to him cautiously. And Agag said, “Surely the bitterness of death is past.” 33 But Samuel said, “As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women.” And Samuel hacked Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.
Booze
Paul talks about crucifying his flesh with his passions and desires
You have thing in your life that you might be dealing with
Jesus paid too big of a price for you to stay in Bondage
John 8:34 NKJV
34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
1 Corinthians 7:23 NKJV
23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
Romans 6:20 NKJV
20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.
