God’s eternal purpose class two

Class two - God, A predetermined purpose (11/14/2023)
Introduction:
God has an eternal purpose: To redeem man for eternity.
It is a predetermined purpose with foreknowledge. God’s predetermined purpose was going to be worked out in the fullness of Christ Jesus.
Aim:
To understand God’s character and nature (His being) so that we can understand they work out His predetermined purpose.
To know, have understanding that God purposed a purpose, planned a plan. A predetermined plan (predestined, foreordained) according to scripture
So, this morning want to touch on a few things. There are a lot of scriptures to note down, we will look up some, but suggest note then all down for your notes for future reference.
Memory verses to be quoted to Pradeep: Eph1:5, 11, Rom8:29-30.
WE need to read them
Ephesians 1:5 “5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,”
Ephesians 1:11 “11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,”
Romans 8:29–30 “29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.”
Vocabulary words: Omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, foreknowledge, predetermined
Omniscient: Knows everything. Biblically it is Omniscience means God is all-knowing. This means God knows everything, including the past and future
Omnipotent: (of a deity) having unlimited power; able to do anything.
Omnipresent: widely or constantly encountered; common or widespread. (Oxford dictionary); Omnipresence means all-present. This term means that God is capable of being everywhere at the same time. It means his divine presence encompasses the whole of the universe.
Foreknowledge: awareness of something before it happens or exists. Foreknowledge Based on Foreordination: God's foreknowledge, according to the Scripture teaching, is based upon His plan or eternal purpose, which embraces everything that comes to pass. God is never represented as a mere onlooker seeing the future course of events, but having no part in it.
Predetermined: established or decided in advance; Divine predestination means that God has a purpose that is determined long before it is brought to pass. It implies that God is infinitely capable of planning and then bringing about what he has planned

Character of God
He is Holy Ps145:17; 1 Peter 1:15–17
Psalm 145:17 “17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways And kind in all His deeds.”
1 Peter 1:15–17 “15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 16 because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth;”
He is just Gen18:25, Rom2:5, 3:26
Romans 2:5 “5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,”
Romans 3:26 “26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”
He is merciful Isa53:6-12; Titus 3:5
Titus 3:5 “5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,”
He is love Ps25:6; 1Jn4:8, 10, 16; Rom5:6-8
1 John 4:8 “8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:10 “10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
He is truth Jn14:6; Rom3:4; Heb6:12-20
The predetermined purposeful activity of God.
He purposed a purpose, planned a plan Rom3:25; Eph1:9, 11, 3:11
Ephesians 1:9 “9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in HimEphesians 1:11 “11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,”; Ephesians 3:11 “11 This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord,”
He foreordained/predestined the plan Act4:28, Eph1:5, 11
Acts 4:28 “28 to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur.”
Foreordained people, and things Eph1:4-5
Ephesians 1:4–5 “4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,”
Some foreordained people
Jeremiah Jer1:5-6
Paul Gal1:15

2 Thessalonians 2:13–14 “13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14 It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Revelation 13:8 “8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain.”
Stop: need to know where all this talk about foreordination is never about anyone, anything outside of Christ.
Salvation is always personal Jn3:16; Act2:38, 22:16; Rom10:9-13; Tit2:11
Romans 10:9–11 “9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.””Romans 10:12–13 “12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.””

Salvation available to all, but all must willingly choose
