Pastor Filly ......
We have been talking a lot about faith in the last few weeks, do you think it might be important?
If you have no faith , you have never experienced perfect peace.
Scripture
Romans 5 ESV
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. 6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. 12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— 13 for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. 14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. 16 And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. 17 For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. 18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. 20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
PEACE
I spoke to Rod very personally a few times before he passed away about all that was happening, He said to me, whatever happens I am at peace because I know where I’m going.
He wasn’t defeated, he wasn’t in denial he had a peace .
Psalm 29:11 NASB95
11 The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.
The root meaning is “to be whole” it includes peace among one another signifying a relationship of harmony and wholeness
1. It involves the state of the individual – Trusting in the Lord brings peace into your life – Rod had a state of peace. It wasn’t just talk it was real.
2. The relationship of man to man. He was at peace with man. I didn’t hear the word hate come out of his mouth much. Sure he might not of been happy with people at times but he would work on it. Then the peace of God would take over.
And in his

3. Promised peace The psalmist said, I will listen to what God the LORD says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants.
*****Shalōm is the desired state of harmony and communion between the two covenant partners its presence signifying God’s blessing in the covenant relationship and its absence signifying the breakdown of that relationship due to Israel’s disobedience and unrighteousness‌
Rod was in right relationship with God
In the Greek pronounced – peace - it is Rest and Binding together that which was separated
Jesus is called the prince of peace.
The angels testimony to the shepherds proclaims Jesus as the bringer of God’s peace to men
It is not based on you or how you feel or what you are going through
Today, it seems peace is a commodity that is very hard to find.
We have it through Christ and he did not let it go.
Isaiah 26:3 NASB95
3 “The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.
HOPE
It is in your nature to have hope.
It is a condition first before it is a feeling.
I have hope because I am complete
Romans 15:13 NASB95
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
I have hope because i know my God
I have hope because I trust what Jesus did on the cross
I have hope because the Holy Spirit lives in me and He exudes Hope.
Christ in you the hope of Glory
To live outside of Hope is to live life with no sense of deliverance- no way out.
Scripture says,
1 Corinthians 10:13 NASB95
13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
The Hope of God does not dissapoint!
Gods Hope anticipates the future - it is a future of security and joy
It is when we go through the tough stuff that we see hope
Israel right now has hope. They talk like they have hope, Sure they are stressed but they see a promise fulfilled
JOY
We rejoice in our sufferings. (sufferings for Christ)
These are part of the advent sermons we preach. Jesus birth brings us to a place where we can experience these things at an eternal level.
knowing that
-suffering produces endurance, - that power to withstand hardship or stress, especially the inward fortitude necessary
-endurance produces character, - a reliable dependability
-character produces hope, ( fulfilled desire.)
James 1:2–3 NASB95
2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
I can recognize God’s processes.
He takes us from Glory to Glory - From suffering to Joy - From death to life.
From suffering to Joy (unending)
1 Peter 4:13 NASB95
13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.
LOVE
Poured out into our hearts
His affection for you has been shown by what he has done. AMEN
God wants to set love in your heart.
The first fruit of the Spirit is LOVE.
Prov says, “let love and faithfulness never leave you.”
Love has a Reward
Pauls letter to the Colossians speaks of your reward so does Rev.
Rev 22:12 "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.
Mat 5:12 "Rejoice, and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
We love rewards
We like to see a return on our investment. Invest in Jesus your return is 100% secure. We are going to have a return all right and that return is coming quickly. He is going to appear.
To be in His body is the greatest gift given to man.
CONCLUSION
Grace is the outworking of Gods love for us.
What is your outcome? Eternal Life
You are living in grace.
If you have not experienced it you need to come under his grace
