Desire The Spirit!

John 7:37-38 (KJV 1900)

37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

This past week we started a study in our Mid week service which is to help us how to Test for a Genuine Baptism in Gods Holy Spirit and know those who are just faking it!

This morning we will begin to see that we need the Holy Spirit in our lives and the purpose for the comforter in our church and to empower our lives!

John 14:16-18 (KJV 1900)

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Don’t doubt that the Holy Ghost is given by God for us, don’t doubt that we all can receive his power and that we need that power today in our church!

Many try to say the Holy Spirit is not necessary today (has anyone noticed the times in which we live?) or that you needed to be touched by an apostle to be filled or baptized in the Holy Ghost but we need this power today the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for all of God’s church!

1.   So we may evangelize this whole world starting with Owingsville

Not merely to have fun in church or to speak in unknown tongues but to for reason.

Acts 1:8 (KJV 1900)

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

2.      Many will be amazed many more will doubt!

Acts 2:1-13 (KJV 1900)

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Acts 4:33 (KJV 1900)

33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Prepare to see things you never saw before to hear things prepare to become a part!

a.       Some say I’m too old or too young some say their gender is why they want to keep silence in the church and not

Joel 2:28 (KJV 1900)

28 And it shall come to pass afterward, That I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions:

b.      Ever have an opportunity to speak for God but didn’t know what to say?

Matthew 10:19-20 (KJV 1900)

19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

Philippians 4:13 (KJV 1900)

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

c.       God has so much he wants you to know!

1 Corinthians 2:12 (KJV 1900)

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
