Today people want a new kind of belief a new kind of church the church of “Reckon So”

·         When you ask them if they know Jesus they Reckon So

·         When you ask if they are going to Heaven they Reckon So

·         Wen you ask if they are baptized in the Holy Spirit they Reckon So

·         When you ask if God is in their homes they Reckon

Philippians 3:12-4:1 (KJV 1900)

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. 17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. 1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

The Churches today cannot seem to allow preaching that has to do with something uncomfortable to listen to, hard to grasp, anything that has something to do with how they need to grow. Sermons about miracles, blessings happy times, and heaven are what they want to hear. That not only happened today it happened it the Bible!

Ask one of them to teach or work in the church look for someone to take up a new responsibility and they say they can’t they don’t have the knowledge or ability!

Hebrews 5:11-14 (KJV 1900)

11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

We have become as though we are dull of hearing. Or of no memory, when we are the ones who should be teachers when we should be the soul winners, we are still being taught basics. When we ought to be stepping up learning new things in righteousness we are still the learners in kindergarten.

Matthew 13:15 (KJV 1900)

15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

·         We don’t want to hear about the Holy Spirit except that he comforts we don’t want to hear of the fruits we should be bearing if we are truly filled! The gifts that should be working in our lives and could be there only that he exists!

·         We don’t want to hear of the things we must do as righteous Christians only what others can do for us.

·         We don’t want to hear about holiness if it contains us growing in grace and knowledge only saving power.

·         We don’t want to feel as though the pastor is stepping on our toes!

·         We don’t want to hear about tithing, stewardship, nor giving what we have to God only receiving.

·         About being in church faithfully!

If the preacher doesn’t speak on things that make us comfortable we won’t hear it!

1 Corinthians 3:2 (KJV 1900)

2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able

Hebrews 6:1-2 (KJV 1900)

1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Lest we stay in this old pattern of coming back every Sunday and never growing let us all begin to grow in grace and knowledge
