Worship: “any action or attitude that expresses praise, love, and appreciation for God”
who’s the most humble person you know?
micah
humbles himself from his position of authority to listen to others, he seeks God first and his wife second in every decision, and it didn’t start that way
life change at WOL, he humbled himself
He not only taught me, but showed me what it looks like to be humble and to worship God
Ryan
One of the most talented, skilled people I’ve ever met, wouldn’t know from his mouth, even when performing he is humble as to not steal attention. Everything he does before, during and after a worship set is all intentionally and methodically planned as to best worship, and be da distraction free as possible while remaining free to do what we do excellently.
today we want to know how we can worship deeper, and it starts with this, when we

I. See God for Who He Really Is.

When we see God for who he is,

a. It exalts or elevates our view of God. (Job 38:1-11)

Wow, Who has even close to the resume that he does?
he’s so much bigger than we give him credit for
he spoke creation into being
he molded the earth
he orchestrates light and darkness
he holds oceans
he is unchanging
When we begin to see God for who he really is, he starts looking a whole lot bigger.

1. Exalt- To hold someone or something in high regard, revere, worship

2. So to exalt we are elevating our view of God

- Job needed to be reminded of who God is, and how big he is...
- and as our view of God increases, we start to see just how small we are, just how desperate we are

b. It humbles our view of self.

Job really turns around and gives a beautiful picture of what humility looks like

(Job 42:5-6)

what a picture of Humility, and of repentence
to turn,
Repent: “to change one’s mind or purpose”
as we Humble ourselves, we begin to...

II. See Ourselves as We Really Are. (Isaiah 6:1-5)

when we see God for who he is, we see ourselves for who we are....

a. It makes us see our need for a Savior. (Romans 3:23; Isaiah 6:6-7; 1 John 1:9)

Sin: “the lack of conformity to, or transgression of, the law of God”
As we start to dive in to this relationship and depend on God,

b. It makes us see our call to service. (Isaiah 6:8)

you see, just as the voice f the lord called out to isaiah, we know the same question resonates to us now...
who will i send, who will go for us...
and he’s waiting for someone to say,
Here i am… Send me...
are you in a place where this can be your response to the lord? thats what worship is! a response, an
Worship: “ action or attitude that expresses praise, love, and appreciation for God”

III. A Proper Perspective Leads to a Worship-Ready Posture.

a. A proper perspective comes from an honest evaluation of God and self.

Once we honestly, properly evaluate who we are and who God is, were in a position to humbly worship

remember Micah
lodge roof
this is where I learned to worship

(Psalm 8:3-4;

2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:7-8)

these verse very clearly paint this picture of who God is, and who we are
God- Creator, Protector, Mighty, Savior
Us- a beautiful, broken creation in need of a savior

b. A worship-ready posture requires humility. (James 4:10)

c. A humble heart can bring God glory. (Ephesians 2:10; Romans 12:1)

he created us to do things for his glory
it doesn’t say, sing,
and our true act of worship is to be a willing sacrifice
Holy, set a part, different from the world but aligned with God
Perspective and posture go hand-in-hand.
When we obtain a proper perspective of who God is, and of who we are,
we can Posture ourselves correctly to worship humbly
Humble yourselves
dwell on who God is
selflessly worship him
through song
service
attention
prayers
testimony
