Psalm 59:11–13 ESV
11 Kill them not, lest my people forget; make them totter by your power and bring them down, O Lord, our shield! 12 For the sin of their mouths, the words of their lips, let them be trapped in their pride. For the cursing and lies that they utter, 13 consume them in wrath; consume them till they are no more, that they may know that God rules over Jacob to the ends of the earth. Selah
1 Peter 1:3–9 ESV
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Depart from the peak of Amana, from the peak of Senir and Hermon, from the dens of lions, from the mountains of leopards.

The church isn’t just about organisation, leadership, function, and vision. There’s something much more beautiful and lovely to recognise. The church is about people being rescued, redeemed, and renewed. The church is about savouring, rejoicing, and service. The church is about proclaiming, enduring, and walking. The church is about being the bride adorned, beautiful, and lovely. Benge, D. (2022). The Loveliest Place: The Beauty and Glory of the Church

It is very appropriate that these words should follow hard upon the previous verses which have been filled with the speaking of the bride’s praises. The words must not be understood as the language of Christ withdrawing from his people. Indeed, they are the very opposite. He must see her and be with her, since she is all his own. There is an emphaticness about what he says: it is literally ‘I myself will go’, thus assuring us of his presence waiting for us. Brooks, R. (1999). Song of Songs
Matthew 2:11 (ESV) — 11 And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

Psalm 45:6–9 (ESV) — 6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness; 7 you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions; 8 your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia. From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad; 9 daughters of kings are among your ladies of honour; at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.
Hebrews 9:3–4 (ESV) — 3 Behind the second curtain was a second section called the Most Holy Place, 4 having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron’s staff that budded, and the tablets of the covenant.

Ephesians 5:25–27 (ESV)
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendour, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

An Exposition of the Book of Solomon’s Song; Commonly Called Canticles (Chapter 4)
...all of the church, every member, every individual believer, is fair in Christ’s eye; the meanest and weakest believer, as well as the greatest and strongest, is made perfectly comely with Christ’s comeliness, and equally accepted in the beloved. John Gill
