One of the main ingredients in gaining a “victory mindset” is having a positive attitude and outlook.
When we have a positive attitude it brings about victory in that it sets our minds in the proper perspective and direction.
Quote:
In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision. -Dalai Lama
A positive vision is so critical to a positive outcome.
Without this vision and direction…an outcome is uncertain
We are like a leaf blowing in the wind.
Victory actually starts in the mind.....
Proverbs 23:6–7 KJV 1900
Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, Neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.
Meaning: do not follow in the ways of an evil man neither covet his possessions…for what is in the heart will manifest outwardly.
They say that the mind and heart are one in the same....as a man thinketh so is the condition of his heart.
We have two directions of thought that we entertain in our minds that can drastically alter our destiny...
Victory mindset
Defeatist mindset
Sometimes we can be defeated before we even get started…we do this with God sometimes.
We do this by creating road blocks in our minds. Barriers and walls
We say it’s to difficult or impossible.
Once we set these types of thoughts and barriers in our minds, they are virtually impossible to overcome because we have told ourselves they are.
Matthew 19:26 KJV 1900
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Positivity doesn’t always refer to simply smiling and looking cheerful, however—positivity is more about one’s overall perspective on life and their tendency to focus on all that is good in life.
This can be applied to our walk with God....
We see in the bible when God sent men of Israel to search out the land of Canaan that most where defeated in their minds and only two where positive and trusted God at his word.
Caleb and Joshua
They came to the land and surely it flowed, as it where, with milk and honey......
Numbers 13:27–28 KJV 1900
And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
The bible tells us that Caleb stilled the people....
Numbers 13:30 KJV 1900
And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
The point I want to get to is.... the main reason that Caleb said we are well able to take the land is this:
Numbers 14:7–9 KJV 1900
And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.
What they where saying is if the Lord delight in us…or is willing and inclined to deliver us then he will bring us into the land and deliver it unto us.
It is interesting that when obstacles came along that the men immediately wanted to rebel or go back to what they had before.
Sometimes we want to do this with God....when things seem to difficult or impossible, instead of having faith, we immediately want to abandon the cause...
This is what these men said....wouldn’t it be easier to go back to Egypt…the effort is becoming to difficult…let us go back to the slavery that we where in..
Proverbs 3:5 KJV 1900
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding.
having a positive attitude/perspective in our walk with God is having a tendency to focus on God first, looking at the beauty and how fortunate we are to know him and to serve him.
To be in complete obedience to him both in our trust and faith that what God says will come to pass.
For when we lean on our own understanding things of God don’t make sense…
Let’s take a look at a few examples of what a positive attitude can include:
looking adversity in the eye and remaining firm
Enjoying the unexpected, even when it’s not what you wanted originally.
Motivating those around you with a positive word..
Being friendly to those you don’t know.
Getting back up when you fall down. (No matter how many times you fall down.)
Being a source of energy that lifts those around you.
Understanding that relationships are more important than material things.
Being happy even when you have little.
Having a good time even when you are losing.
Being happy for someone else’s success.
Having a positive future vision, no matter how bad your current circumstances.
Tell someone you know that they did a great job. (And mean it.)
Is not complaining no matter how unfair things appear to be.
Not letting other people’s negativity bring you down.
Giving more than you expect to get in return.
Being true to yourself… always
Let’s look at examples of God’s deliverance: We see one of the most amazing examples of Gods’ deliverance and of victory against the odds in the story of Gideon's army
We see that through a process designed to show the deliverance and power of God, the army of Gideon was reduced from about 22,000 to 300 men.
This was the battle against the mighty Midianite army
Judges 7:12 KJV 1900
And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
The odds seemed to be impossible....but we know that all things are possible with God.
Judges 7:16–22 KJV 1900
And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do. When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon. So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands. And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon. And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled. And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the Lord set every man’s sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Beth-shittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abel-meholah, unto Tabbath.
We therefor see, that by three hundred men, they put thousands to flight.
The bible says that one shall put a thousand to flight and two shall put ten thousand to flight
Isaiah 52:12 KJV 1900
For ye shall not go out with haste, Nor go by flight: For the Lord will go before you; And the God of Israel will be your rereward.
The word rereward means:

from rere, arere behind + warde, gard guard] 14th century obsolete: REAR GUARD

to gather: it is applied to the gathering up of the scattered rear of an army, or the keeping it from straggling, and defending it from the attacks of an enemy

God is our rereward meaning, he is our protector and defender of all our enemies
it means that God has our back....what an awesome promise
Isaiah 41:10 KJV 1900
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: Be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Often times we struggle to understand God because we are looking at things that are spiritually understood through our own carnal eyes.
Philippians gives us an idea of how we should think
Philippians 4:8–9 KJV 1900
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
what this is saying is that if there be any virtue or praise…meaning: If there be any moral excellence of character and to glorify God especially by the attribution of perfections, (to walk perfectly with our God in honor to him)..we are to think on these things or positive things.
If we want to walk with God perfectly..we should think on these things.
a good general description of positivity is this:
“Positive thinking is a mental and emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results.” (Remez Sasson: founder and owner of SuccessConsciousness.com.
we must ask ourselves: are we controlling this life or are we allowing this life to control us.
Are we walking with God expecting a positive result or are we just winging it and hoping for the best.
Quote:
"Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results." – Willie Nelson
Lets take a look at some attributes of having a positive attitude and of optimism.
Optimism: a willingness to make an effort and take a chance instead of assuming your efforts won’t pay off.
Acceptance: acknowledging that things don’t always turn out how you want them to, but learning from your mistakes.
Resilience: bouncing back from adversity, disappointment, and failure instead of giving up.
Gratitude: actively, continuously appreciating the good things in your life (Blank, 2017).
Consciousness/Mindfulness: dedicating the mind to conscious awareness and enhancing the ability to focus.
Integrity: the trait of being honorable, righteous, and straightforward, instead of deceitful and self-serving (Power of Positivity, n.d.).
In these things, we have to literally train our minds to think a certain way rather than excepting defeat and walking away
We must learn to have an outward focus rather than an inward focus.
An outward focus causes us to focus on other people, on being Christ like, on focusing on what we can do for Christ and not just on our selfishness.
An inward focus is a focus on self centeredness, on me, myself and I. On what my problems are and not on Christ or what I can do for him.
It’s difficult to be focused on self and at the same time, having our focus on Christ.
What is victory?? Victory is the conquest of, or gaining of a decisive advantage over, an enemy.
is to say that no matter what comes my way, I will remain faithful to God whether on the mountain top or in the valley
Therefor, to have a victory mindset....is to gain a decisive advantage over our adversary…the enemy of our soul…by putting God first and allowing God to control our direction and destiny.
We must remember that God is good, in control and trustworthy even if everything seems out of control.
Isaiah 41:10 KJV 1900
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: Be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
God has promised that he would always be with us…that he will never leave us nor forsake us.
It’s time we start living life on purpose instead of accidently…taking charge of our future and walk with God.
I like what Dolly Parton said:
"Find out who you are and do it on purpose."
We have to live this life with purpose and on purpose....meaning, as a believer, fully trusting in God without doubt
Isaiah 26:3–4 KJV 1900
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on thee: Because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: For in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
To be “steadfast” is to be firm and unwavering.
If we keep our mind steadfastly on the Lord, we can have peace in knowing He is in control.
He is a steady rock. He does not change or falter.
We can have peace in knowing we are cared for by a trustworthy God.
Quote: “A dead end is just a good place to turn around.
If we find ourselves at a dead end or an impasse with God we have only to turn things around by surrendering all to God allowing him to be first.
"Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible." — Tony Robbins
when we start putting God first in our lives, the things that seemed to be invisible, seem to become visible
We begin to see the hand of God working in our lives and the plan and direction of God fulfilled day by day.
Jeremiah 17:7 AMP
[Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.
If you want to be blessed of God then we must put our full faith and trust in the Lord and all of our hope and confidence and serve him with our whole heart, understanding, soul, mind and strength.
That is, with everything that is within us.
Above all, it’s about increasing our control over our own attitude in the face of whatever comes our way.
We cannot always control our mood, and we cannot always control the thoughts that pop into our head, but we can choose how we handle them.
