Theme: God Adds to His Church
Word for the Week is Doctrine: It is the body of teachings of the Christian faith concerning its central beliefs. Doctrine is grounded in Scripture and aims to maintain the integrity of Christianity by distinguishing it from non-Christian beliefs. Doctrine is of central importance in Christian preaching and teaching in that it equips the people of God for effective and faithful service in his world.
Memory verse: Colossians 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and [be] not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, [and] which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister
Essence of the Text: After the preaching of Peter, the hearers responded appropriately to belief in God which produced a determination for oneness.
Proposition: Believers should respond appropriately to the Word of God with intense effort for oneness respond appropriately to His Word living it out
Objective: I want those in attendance to consider today’s message and respond by making a change toward oneness.
Sermon Text: Acts 2:46–47
Acts 2:46–47 NKJV
46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
INTRODUCTION: What? Did you hear what was going with those people? They continued daily with one accord in the God’s house and in their house. They ate together with no agenda. They were happy, praising God and they all got along TOGETHER
TRANSITION:

I. THE SCRIPTURE BRINGS ONENESS

Acts 2:40–41 NKJV
40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

II. STEADFASTNESS BRINGS ONENESS

Acts 2:42 NKJV
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 2:43–45 NKJV
43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
