Paul is calling the Colossians to stay loyal to Jesus and the resurrection way of life.

Paul’s Final Instructions:

Colossians 4:2 CSB
Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.
Mark 14:38 CSB
Stay awake and pray so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Colossians 2:8 CSB
Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elements of the world, rather than Christ.
Colossians 4:2 CSB
Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.
Colossians 3:15–17 CSB
And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Pray constantly against temptation by focusing on thanksgiving. (v. 2; Mark 14:38; Colossians 2:8, 3:15-17)
Colossians 4:3 CSB
At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains,
Colossians 1:27–28 CSB
God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. We proclaim him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.
Pray for the spreading of the Good News about the resurrection way of life. (v. 3; Colossians 1:27-28)
Colossians 4:5 CSB
Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time.
Colossians 4:3–4 CSB
At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains, so that I may make it known as I should.
Colossians 1:25–28 CSB
I have become its servant, according to God’s commission that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. We proclaim him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.
Colossians 2:2–3 CSB
I want their hearts to be encouraged and joined together in love, so that they may have all the riches of complete understanding and have the knowledge of God’s mystery—Christ. In him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Colossians 4:3–5 CSB
At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains, so that I may make it known as I should. Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time.
Behave in ways that are consistent with the Resurrection way of life. (v. 4-5; Colossians 1:25-28, 2:2-3)
Colossians 4:6 CSB
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person.
Colossians 4:3 CSB
At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains,
Mark 9:50 CSB
Salt is good, but if the salt should lose its flavor, how can you season it? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
1 Peter 3:15–16 CSB
but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you. Yet do this with gentleness and reverence, keeping a clear conscience, so that when you are accused, those who disparage your good conduct in Christ will be put to shame.
Speak only in ways that attract people to the Gospel. (v. 6; Mark 9:50)
