Be Thankful Where your At And Go Forward

Going forward till God says stop: Cheryl
2 Timothy 1:9–11 KJV 1900
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
2 Timothy 2:15–16 KJV 1900
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
study:4704. σπουδάζω spŏudazō, spoo-dad´-zo; from 4710; to use speed, i.e. to make effort, be prompt or earnest:—do (give) diligence, be diligent (forward), endeavour, labour, study.
Charles Swindoll

The King James Version renders this Greek word “rightly dividing,” but the expression is better phrased, “teaching faithfully and practically living out.” In other words, Timothy must handle the word of truth accurately—both in his speech and in his conduct. As one scholar noted, “He is superior to the false teachers, not because he can present the word better, nor because he offers it in a theologically legitimate form, but because he follows this word of truth aright in his own life, and thus confirms it.”[72]

2 Timothy 2:17–19 KJV 1900
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Beware overweight nutritionists, attorneys serving prison sentences, physicians who chain-smoke, bankrupt financial advisors, and preachers who live contrary to the Word of God!

Romans 10:17 KJV 1900
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16 KJV 1900
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
ILLUSTRATION:
Somewhere along the way, many believers have concluded that obedience to God is based upon a mind filled with spiritual information and trivia. The line of reasoning is: “If I can quote a few verses of Scripture and I obey God most of the time, then I’m doing pretty good.” It is this kind of thinking that leads to wrong conclusions, as illustrated by this example.
“Howard Hendricks says we often make the mistake of equating Bible knowledge with spirituality. During his college days, Hendricks was a church youth director. One boy in the group had memorized over 600 verses and could recite them wordperfect! This kid was amazing—just give him a reference and he would reel off the verse.
“One day Hendricks became aware that money was missing from the Sunday school offering. After a bit of investigation, he found the culprit. You guessed it! It was the Bible-memory expert!
“Catching him red-handed, Hendricks escorted the boy to his office for a little talk. When he used a Scripture verse to drive home the point that stealing was wrong, the boy told him he had misquoted the verse. Finally, Hendricks asked, ‘Do you see any connection between that verse and your stealing from the offering?’
“At first, the boy said no. Then he said, ‘Well, maybe.’
“ ‘What’s the connection?’
“ ‘I got caught!’
“From God’s perspective, says Hendricks, the name of the game isn’t knowledge—it’s active obedience.”2
There are a lot of people like this boy who misquote the Bible and only believe what they like about God’s Word. God’s Word is true and must be obeyed—all of it, all of the time.
