The Success of Seeking God

2 Chronicles 26:4–5 “And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah did. And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.”

He Sought God in Prayer and His word

If you Haven’t figured out you can aren’t even in the game yet!
“You can do alot after you pray but you can’t do anything truely well until you pray.”
-Brother Heath
You can’t serve God without a prayer life
You can’t be who you ought to be without prayer life
-how can you walk with God if you don’t know where God wants to lead you?
-I know im called to preach because of his word!
You won’t have power over sin
-If you’re in slip up in sin EXAMINE YOURSELF!
-Have you sought God in prayer or in His Word?

He Sought God’s Prophet

Get around people that know how to pray and walk with God
-Our pastor and the myrtle crowd
The Prophets of the O.T. had a certain word for a certain time
-Thank God, God gives pastors the message that we NEED
-we don’t need any ear tickling preaching or sugar stick messages! we need the message of the hour!
-Thank god we have a Man of God that prays and seeks the face of God for the message of the hour!
2 Chronicles 26:5 “And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.”
God gives our pastor the vison for the church.
-The GOOD shepherd gives the under-shepherd the message of the hour!
-if you want to know where our church is heading listen to the messages
-if you want to know our pastor heart and what his heart is heavy for listen to the messages!
God gives him the message of the hour!!!
God gives our pastor wisdom to direct us, and instruct us!
1 Kings 12:6 “And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?” 1 Kings 12:8 “But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:”
Listen to the instruction from people who have been down the road you’re traveling!
-don’t go to your peers that have no clue what your going through!
You ought to want direction from God! if you don’t want direction from God are you really his?

He Recieved God’s Protection

2 Chronicles 26:6–7 “And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines. And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Mehunims.”
After Uzziah submitted to God, sought God, Sought Gods prophet “GOD HELPED HIM”
-If you want God’s protection and favour seek him in prayer and in his word! Stay in the will of God and you’ll receive the protection of God!
-If you are living in God’s will you can rest assured KNOWING that God will keep you until you have completed the task he designed you for!

He Recieved God’s Promise

2 Chronicles 26:5 “And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.”
2 Chronicles 26:8–15
How did King Uzziah know what to do and when to do it?
-He sought God!
-God revealed to him how to:
Protect (v.9)
Provide (v.10)
Prepare (v.11-15)
(v.15) His secret wasn’t in his power or army but that he was seeking the Lord!
God will show you how to do this for your home! But you need to seek him!
It may be inconvinient to seek him every day but.. IT’S WORTH IT!
-Are you kids, wife, lost loved ones.. are they worth it?

His Fall to Pride

Proverbs 11:2 - When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. Proverbs 16:5 - Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. Proverbs 29:23 - A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. Proverbs 16:18 - Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. James 4:6 - But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
He didnt feel he need the prophets and the priest anymore
-He is a picture of laodicia- rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing.
-he didn’t need a priest or a prophet (God’s man)
-and his pride took him down.
Leperosy rose up on his forehead
-The leper couldn't hold a job, couldn't live in a home with non-lepers (including his or her own family), couldn't shop in a market, couldn't own property, couldn't touch or hug or hold hands. Nothing. The leper's only option was begging for scraps, isolation, and waiting to physically deteriorate and die.
-a symbol of sinfulness
-He died a leper!!
-He died in a sin stricken state!
without the people he loved, without the prophet and without God's presence!!!
When King Uzziah died he did not get a Kings Burial. one of the greatest kings and didn’t even get burried like a king because he would bow to the leadership of God
John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
All we have is God
