They Were Alone

Luke has left out some events that the other gospel writers have put in
Luke has even left out where they are located
but they are at last alone
and Jesus is going to ask the most important question anybody will answer
He asks about the crowd that follows him every where
and He will ask His apostles the same question
The answer that you give to this question may determine your final destination
Heaven or Hell
Lets read out scripture and find out what this question is
Luke 9 18-22.

Truth Is What You Make It

V 18 Who do the crowds say that I am
V 19 a verity of answers
There are many answers today
good man
a prophet, starter of the christian religion
a historical figure
Mormon a brother of Lucifer
JW Jesus is the first creation of God
The Pope says Jesus and Buddha are the same
the Muslim says Jesus was virgin birth came to the Jews they rejected them and God brought Him back to heaven without dying
52% of Americans think Jesus was a great teacher
a Barna survey in 2015 only 87% of Millennials believed Jesus was a real person
more of them thought that Jesus was an ordinary human that sinned - than the truth
On the whole, America is still committed to Jesus. The act of making a personal commitment to Jesus—often seen as the “first step” in becoming a Christian—is a step that more than six in 10 Americans say they have taken and, moreover, that commitment is still important in their life today.
does it matter what we believe as long as or faith is strong?
does your truth trump my truth
like Pilate says what is truth?
What you believe about Jesus determines your actions
what you believe will determine your life
the Muslim nations have a life mission to completely destroy Israel
and the United States
they see us as satan himself
thus they don’t have any problem with teaching kindergartners to kill Jews
even the Jews who believe in God will persecute the christian because of Jesus
Luke 21:16–17 LSB
“But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, and you will be hated by all because of My name.
John 15:18–21 LSB
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated Me before it hated you. “If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. “But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me.
getting back to our passage
V 19 none of the crowd says that Jesus is the Messiah
the Redeemer of Israel
the one bringing in the Kingdom of God
they know that He is doing Godly things
but their heart and mind are blinded to the fact that here is the Christ

Who Do You Say I Am?

This is the most important question
your answer will show what you believe
lets look at Peter’s answer
V 20
the Christ in Greek/ Messiah in Hebrew
The Christ It denotes that he was anointed or consecrated to his great redemptive work as Prophet, Priest, and King of his people. He is Jesus the Christ
Easton, M. G. (1893). In Illustrated Bible Dictionary and Treasury of Biblical History, Biography, Geography, Doctrine, and Literature (p. 142). Harper & Brothers.
In the Old Testament we see the Christ as
“the seed of the woman” (Gen. 3:15),
“the seed of Abraham” (Gen. 22:18),
the “Prophet like unto Moses” (Deut. 18:15),
the priest after the order of Melchizedek” (Ps. 110:4)
“the rod out of the stem of Jesse” (Isa. 11:1, 10),
the “Immanuel,” the virgin’s son (Isa. 7:14),
“the branch of Jehovah” (Isa. 4:2),
“the messenger of the covenant” (Mal. 3:1)
All these allusions, shadows, or prophecies of the Christ
In the Old Testament and even New when an Angel appeared to some one and the person tried to worship the angel would not let them
But when The Angel of God appeared and people tried to worship then it was appropriate
Jesus is God.
he appeared to Joshua, Sampson’s parents, Gideon and others
after the resurrection Thomas bowed to Jesus and called My Lord and My God and it was appropriate
Jesus is God, Jesus is the Christ of God the Father
I someone has committed their life to Jesus and does not believe that Jesus is the Christ and God the son
then their faith is not unto salvation
2 Corinthians 13:5 LSB
Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize about yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?
are you of the faith?
Is Jesus going to say at the Judgement “depart from me I never knew you”?
are you sure you have the right answers?
when you stand before the Judge of the world
what will your defence be?
I’ve done my best
Or I am totally resting on the Grace of god
The Sacrificial death of my messiah on the cross
the precious blood that purchased my pardon from the slave chains of sin
test yourselves and see if you are ....
