Living in the New Creation

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
We are stepping away from the 33 things of positional truth in Christ for a time, but we want to summarize our understanding so far. What is positional truth? Why is it important? Who has it? When did we get it? Where is our position and where is our experience? How shall we live?
Watchman Nee wrote a book - Sit, Walk, Stand - a look at our position from the epistle to the Ephesians. Let’s see what Ephesians has to say.

Sit

Ephesians 2:1–6 “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course (αἰών) of this world (κόσμος), according to the prince (ἄρχων) of the power (ἐξουσία) of the air (ἀήρ), the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”
We were dead and walked in this world - our old experience
We were ruled by the god of this world 2 Corinthians 4:4 “whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”
The ruler of this world John 12:31 “Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler (ἄρχων) of this world will be cast out.”
Our desires were only selfish and consumed on things that perish.
Ephesians 1:19–21 “and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality (ἀρχή) and power (ἐξουσία) and might (δύναμις)and dominion (κυριότης), and every name (ὄνομα) that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.” (Romans 8:37–39 “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death (θάνατος) nor life (ζωή), nor angels (ἄγγελος) nor principalities (ἀρχή) nor powers (δύναμις), nor things present nor things to come, nor height (ὕψωμα) nor depth (βάθος), nor any other created thing (κτίσις that which is created; governance system, authority system.), shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” )
But God - mercy, great love, and grace
We are alive together with Christ - Positional Truth
Raised up together
Colossians 1:13 “He has delivered (rescued) us from the power (ἐξουσία authority) of darkness and conveyed (transferred) us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,”
Seated together in heavenly places
We are “In Christ” a temple of the Holy Spirit and sons of God
John 17:14 “I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”

Walk

In good works
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Walk worthy of gifts
Ephesians 4:1 “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,”
Walk not in the old man
Ephesians 4:17 “This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,”
Walk in self sacrificing love
Ephesians 5:2 “And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” Walk in the light
Ephesians 5:8 “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light”
Walk as wise in Bible doctrine
Ephesians 5:15 “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,”

Stand

Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles (μεθοδεία) of the devil (διάβολος).
Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities (ἀρχή), against powers (ἐξουσία), against the rulers (κοσμοκράτωρ) of the darkness of this age, against spiritual (πνευματικός) hosts of wickedness (πονηρία) in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Ephesians 6:14 “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,”
We are always working from a position of strength (Positional Truth)
