One winter, three men in the woods found themselves face to face with an angry bear. They turned and ran, only to reach a ledge overlooking a lake. To be saved, they had to jump. The first man thought, "The ice on the lake is probably not thick enough to save me, but I'll jump anyway." The second man thought, "I'm pretty sure the ice is thick enough, so I will jump." The third man thought, "I'm positive the ice is thick enough. I will gladly jump and be saved!"

The ice was more than sufficient to save each of them.

So which one is more saved? The fact is that each was saved not because of his degree of faith, but because he jumped.
