Covenant Promise of Protection

Every Biblical promise we have is because we are in covenant with God-
Creation begins with God creating everything, and then created humans
Genesis 1:26–27 CSB
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female.
We are created i the image of God for these purpose of fellowship with God-
God desires us! Which is why Created mankind
It is why He redeemed mankind
It is why He provides
It is why He protects
Because it is the relationship that He desires with us
It is a covenant Relationship-
A Covenant relationship: It begins with God- He is Creator , He acts first in the Relationship-
1 John 4:19 CSB
We love because he first loved us.
When Israel was enslaved by Egypt it was God who redeemed them
When we were dead in our Sin and trespasses it God who who acted on our behalf, sending Jesus Christ to redeem us
Romans 5:8 CSB
But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
This Covenant relationship that God has established is the basis of all we do, and of who were are, and of why we worship-
He provided- Now we are free
He provides- Now we walk in faith to His promises
He is our Father- We are adopted as His Children
We are His and He is our
The greatest command given wasn’t as rule like “Don’t steal”
It was Matthew 22:37
Matthew 22:37 CSB
He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
Just as it was in the Old Testament
Deuteronomy 6:4–6 CSB
“Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart.
When we walk in Love we walk in obedience
John 15:9–10 CSB
“As the Father has loved me, I have also loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commands you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

Psalm 91- Describes the Confidence we as believers can have no matter what we may face

The confidences begins with dwelling
Psalm 91:1 CSB
The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.
The one who “Dwells”- It means to Inhabit- to live in this state- to remain
Used over 1,000 time in the OT- It is a major theme God wants you to get it
Why because is leads to blessing.
Psalm 91:2–8 (CSB)
I will say concerning the Lord, who is my refuge and my fortress,
my God in whom I trust:
He himself will rescue you from the bird trap,
from the destructive plague.
He will cover you with his feathers;
you will take refuge under his wings.
His faithfulness will be a protective shield.
You will not fear the terror of the night,
the arrow that flies by day,
the plague that stalks in darkness,
or the pestilence that ravages at noon.
Though a thousand fall at your side
and ten thousand at your right hand,
the pestilence will not reach you.
You will only see it with your eyes
and witness the punishment of the wicked.
Psalm 91:2- The writing is speaking of someone who He knows-
“My Refuge”
“My God”
“whom I trust”
The writing is inviting us to taste what He already has experienced
After calling us to trust God, the writers speaks of the benefits
Psalm 103:1–5 CSB
My soul, bless the Lord, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. My soul, bless the Lord, and do not forget all his benefits. He forgives all your iniquity; he heals all your diseases. He redeems your life from the Pit; he crowns you with faithful love and compassion. He satisfies you with good things; your youth is renewed like the eagle.
There are benefits that only come from walking with God.
Forgiveness only comes from God
Salvation only comes from God
Supernatural provision only comes from God
Their are benefits for you and for me
Matthew 6:33 CSB
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.
When we walk with God there is provision for our needs.
He is good Father who provides for us because He loves us!
Psalm 91:9–13 CSB
Because you have made the Lord—my refuge, the Most High—your dwelling place, no harm will come to you; no plague will come near your tent. For he will give his angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways. They will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the young lion and the serpent.

God notices and responds to our faith:

Psalm 91:14–16 CSB
Because he has his heart set on me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. When he calls out to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor. I will satisfy him with a long life and show him my salvation.
