Introduction
This study of Psalm 100 has helped keep me focused during this season of Thanksgiving. I am reminded of how I need to constantly give thanks and praise our Great God. Please read with me this great Psalm of Thanks.
Psalm 100:1–5 NIV84
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
As a point of review, let’s look a few things we do not need to forget.

Refuse to Forget

Shout to the Lord (Psalm 100:1)
First, our praise and thanksgiving comes with a shout to the Lord. In doing so, it claims the world for God. When one thinks about it, singing for joy should be the quick response.
Worship the Lord (Psalm 100:2)
Our shouting and singing to the Lord leads to our greatest act and that is worship. It is not a drudgery but it is an act done with gladness.
Know the Lord(Psalm 100:3)
As we worship the Lord, we come to know the Lord. It is He that made us and we are His. We are the people, the sheep of His pasture.
Praise the Lord (Psalm 100:4)
As we know Him, we turn our knowledge into praise. We enter into His presence and become priests of praise.

Recognize that the Lord is Good (vs. 5a)

That is when we recognize that the Lord is Good. God is not fickle. His good, loving faithfulness remains the same forever. We can count on Him. Let’s look at this verse a bit deeper, first recognizing what it means when it says, “the Lord is Good.”
He is our Culinary Delight (Psalm 34:8)
It means He is our culinary delight.
Psalm 34:8 NIV84
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
Some of the greatest satisfaction you and I can have is when we eat something that is a culinary delight. Our whole being engulfs that savory flavor and we shimmy from head to toe. This is one time that we should be glad that we are what we eat. My acupuncturist says, “you are what you eat, so don’t eat fast, easy and cheap.” Taste and see the Lord is Good.
He is our Compassionate Deity (Psalm 145:9)
He also is our compassionate deity. So often many see God as a harsh judge. The truth is while He demands holiness, He is the God of compassion.
Psalm 145:9 NIV84
9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.
Have you felt the compassion of God this morning?
He is our Covered Dwelling (Nahum 1:7)
The Lord is good also because He is our covered dwelling, our shelter.
Nahum 1:7 NIV84
7 The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,
Are you trusting the Lord this morning?

Remember His Love Endures Forever (vs. 5b)

We can trust Him because His love endures forever. This phrase is mentioned 41 times in the Old Testament. The most of those times are in Psalm 136.
Through His Design (Psalm 136:2-9)
We see in verses 2-9 of this beautiful Psalm that His love endures through His design. Psalm 136:2-9
Psalm 136:2–9 NIV84
2 Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. 3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever. 4 to him who alone does great wonders, His love endures forever. 5 who by his understanding made the heavens, His love endures forever. 6 who spread out the earth upon the waters, His love endures forever. 7 who made the great lights— His love endures forever. 8 the sun to govern the day, His love endures forever. 9 the moon and stars to govern the night; His love endures forever.
Through His Deliverance (Psalm 136:10-20)
We also see that His love endures forever through His deliverance.
Psalm 136:10–20 NIV84
10 to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt His love endures forever. 11 and brought Israel out from among them His love endures forever. 12 with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever. 13 to him who divided the Red Sea asunder His love endures forever. 14 and brought Israel through the midst of it, His love endures forever. 15 but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea; His love endures forever. 16 to him who led his people through the desert, His love endures forever. 17 who struck down great kings, His love endures forever. 18 and killed mighty kings— His love endures forever. 19 Sihon king of the Amorites His love endures forever. 20 and Og king of Bashan— His love endures forever.
Through His Dedication (Psalm 136:21-26)
Finally we see His love endures forever through His dedication.
Psalm 136:21–26 NIV84
21 and gave their land as an inheritance, His love endures forever. 22 an inheritance to his servant Israel; His love endures forever. 23 to the One who remembered us in our low estate His love endures forever. 24 and freed us from our enemies, His love endures forever. 25 and who gives food to every creature. His love endures forever. 26 Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.
As a result, we need to recollect that His faithfulness continues.

Recollect His Faithfulness Continues (vs. 5c)

From Eternity to Eternity (Psalm 57:3)
God has been faithful from eternity before to eternity everlasting.
Psalm 57:3 NIV84
3 He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me; Selah God sends his love and his faithfulness.
By the way, selah, is a musical term that means pause or interlude. It is only right that was we read that verse, we pause to take it all in just what it means as God’s faithfulness continues from eternity to eternity.
From Buffer to Barrier (Psalm 94:4)
God’s faithfulness continues from buffer to barrier, or as the Psalmist puts it, from shield to rampart. Psalm 91:4
Psalm 91:4 NIV84
4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
From buffer to barrier.
From Nation to Nation (Psalm 98:3; Acts 10:34-35; Isaiah 62:2)
God’s faithfulness continues from nation to nation.
This is something I have grown more fond of as my world has expanded and traveling overseas for the the first time this year as well as participating in Operation Christmas Child.
Psalm 98:3 NIV84
3 He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Like the apostles, we are commissioned to go unto all the world sharing the Good News of our Lord.
Acts 10:34–35 NIV84
34 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35 but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.
I still am convinced that we have many nations right across our street with the University. God help us to reach these students with the love of our Lord.
The prophet Isaiah declared God’s desire to reach the nations.
Isaiah 62:2 NIV84
2 The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow.
Finally, we see that God’s faithfulness continues from generation to generation.
From Generation To Generation (Luke 1:50)
Mary’s song of joy and declaration in Luke 1:50 declares that
Luke 1:50 NIV84
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.
Pastor and theologian, Tim Keller, wrote: “It’s one thing to be grateful. It’s another thing to give thanks. Gratitude is what you feel. Thanksgiving is what you do. Gratitude is incomplete if it goes unexpressed.”
It stems from what you chose to remember. Will you remember the goodness of God? Will you remember how He has saved you from the depths of sin? Will you remember how He has raised you to life everlasting? Will you remember?
