Over the next several weeks we are going to go through a new study- The Story of the Bible
Sometimes we think the Bible is divided up into many sections or many stories (e.g. OT and NT)
However, the Bible is one story with one plan (salvation to mankind) and one purpose (the glory of God) from the beginning of time until the end of time
Every story starts with the beginning, which is what we are going to be looking at today
We will see in the beginning of the story too, that God is working to be in relationship with man to reveal his glory for all time
Romans 1:20 From the Creation of the World

Creation reveals God to man

The God of the Bible is an invisible creating God
The Bible opens with God active in creation (Genesis 1:1)
The earth and everything in it are the riches of God’s wisdom that are an overflow of his love and power (Psalm 104:24)
God did not create out of necessity but out of abundance
He rejoices in His works (Psalm 104:31)
The God of the Bible reveals himself to man in order to have a relationship with them
God created man and put him in the midst of the Garden (Genesis 2:8)
Through creation God is clearly seen

Creation reveals God’s eternal power

The God of the Bible is unique from all created things
He is above all in holiness (Exodus 15:11, Psalm 71:19)
He is above all in Character (1 Kings 8:23, Psalm 35:10)
The God of the Bible is the only one with power to create newness in your life
The world was without form and void (Genesis 1:2)
But the Spirit of God moved upon the waters and over the next 6 days brought form to creation and filled creation
Day 1-3; brought shape to light and darkness, sky and waters, waters and land
Day 4-6; filled the light and darkness, sky and waters, land

Creation reveals God’s Godhead

The God of the Bible is the center of the Story
The Story ends with all people bowing down before him (Philippians 2:10)
All of creation is anticipating the day of God’s new creation (Romans 8:22-23)
The God of the Bible must be worshipped and given glory
He is our creator and all must worship him as the one true God (Psalm 100:3)
Jesus must have the preeminence (Colossians 1:12-20)
