An ad in a local paper asked, “How You Can Be Part of a Christian Community With Integrity and Not Believe All Those Things You Thought You Had to Believe.” The church sponsoring the lectures is a Mainline Denomination church, but would like to assure you that “you don’t have to check your mind at a church door.” The final words in the ad are, “Questions are required. No answers are promised.”
I have not attended one of the lectures yet. However, the ads have me thinking, “Just what are the things necessary to believe to be considered a Christian? What are the essentials and where do you find them?”
