John’s conception was miraculous, but Jesus’ conception was supernatural! It was even more impressive in that Mary was a virgin.
Note: though she was engaged, she had never been intimate with Joseph or any other man. That was just as God planned.
For the Lord Jesus to redeem us he had to fully be identified with us. He is the fulfillment of Genesis 3:15 “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”” The Seed of the Woman.
His conception was by the power of the Holy Spirit!

He Is Called “Jesus”
He Is Called “Jesus”
It is His personal name. Meaning “Savior”.
Matthew 1:21 “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.””
It is the name by which Mary called him. A reminder throughout his life of his mission.

John was great in the sight of the Lord, but Jesus is GREAT.
This is how the Angelic Hosts know Him. The Most High God, there is none like Him. Even the demons trembled before him - Luke 8:28 “When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.””
It is often used in the Psalms to describe the position of God “Elyon”. He is exalted above all others.
Psalm 47:2 “For the Lord, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth.”
In Daniel 7 one of the angels explains a vision to Daniel and refers to God as the Most High!
For Jesus to be the “Son of the Most High” means that His authority is recognized in the spiritual realm, even in heaven itself!

He is Divine and is fully identified as God in the flesh. He is fully God!

He is fully man. The physical descendant of David with the right to the throne.

He will reign eternally over the “house of Jacob.”
Isaiah 9:6–7 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.”

He is Holy - set apart. The most unique individual in all of history. He is Messiah, the anointed one that was promised!

Mary responded to the incredible explanation of Christi’s conception with faith and humility.
Following the Lord’s will would change her life, it would change how others viewed her, but it would make her a blessing to many.
Each of us must also receive the King of Eternity by humble faith. We have need of receiving our personal salvation. In order to receive salvation we must submit to the will and word of God by faith in Christ!
