The Remedy of the World’s Misery
The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
a light has dawned
on those living in the land of darkness.
This is the thrill of Hope-
Those who walk in Darkness-
David said Psalm 23:4
Even when I go through the darkest valley,
I fear no danger,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—they comfort me.
The prophet here is speaking not of those who are passing through the valley but who have been dwelling in darkness-
When you dwell in darkness:
When you dwell in darkness:
you adjust your vision to the darkness
When we live in the darkness how we view things:
This world
our lives
are all adjust to the lack of vision to the lack of hope, to the lack of seeing what is ahead
You walk differently in darkness
we use caution and don’t live a life full of hope because we don’t want to be let down
we look at circumstance very pessimistically
We become like Eore and we walk in gloom
everything is doom and gloom
you cannot see everything while you are in darkness
You miss the beauty of all that God wants to do in your life and through your life
Those who dwell in the spiritual darkness are subject to the oppression of Satan
For you have shattered their oppressive yoke
and the rod on their shoulders,
the staff of their oppressor,
just as you did on the day of Midian.
They are under an oppressive yoke
To oppress- cause hardship and trouble-
To be oppressed- experiencing hardships and trouble
it speaks of the yoke of oppression being broken and scattered because of the hope of the world
I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
Jesus has come to break the rod of oppression over your life-
He came to give you abundant overflowing life-
A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.
Jesus is the light that has dawn for those who have been oppressed- He shatters the rod and breaks all the lie and the troubles over your life
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were under the tyranny of the devil, because God was with him.
There are those who are in darkness and they under the tyranny of the devil.
That is there Spiritual condition
It looks like:
Addiction
Depression
Anger
bitterness
Anxiety
fear
Self-hatred
Brokenness
Unloveable
No Hope
This is the yoke of dwelling in Darkness
The Misery of the World is do to the Spiritual condition of the World, but God is Light!
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him.
Darkness is not the kingdom of God
When Jesus preached He preached the kingdom of God was near, and because of that there is freedom from all the tyranny of the Devil
In him was life, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.
Isaiah 9:4 (CSB)
For you have shattered their oppressive yoke
and the rod on their shoulders,
the staff of their oppressor,
just as you did on the day of Midian.
On the day of Midian-
What God has done in the past points to what He will do now and in the future
What God has done in the past points to what He will do now and in the future
Midian oppressed God’s people in the time of the judges.
The people had sinned:
They turned from God
They left Him
They left God protect and provision
Sin gave way for the enemy to oppress
Sin in our lives does the same-
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;
They burden that sin causes and the oppression is bring, and the access it gives to they tyranny of Stan in our lives
But God
Ephesians 2:1–5 (CSB)
And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient. We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!
But God made a promise for you and for me because of His great Love!
For a child will be born for us,
a son will be given to us,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
He will be named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Unto us- The reason for the birth of the Savior was for us
For our healing
For our salvation
For our freedom
Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: Today in the city of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
After this proclamation-
Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:
Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to people he favors!
An army of angels- because this child is a King who transfers us out of the kingdom of Darkness and into the kingdom of light!
Isaiah 9:7 (CSB)
The dominion will be vast,
and its prosperity will never end.
He will reign on the throne of David
and over his kingdom,
to establish and sustain it
with justice and righteousness from now on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord of Armies will accomplish this.
He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.
Darkness has no hold on me- Satan has no power over me
I am in the kingdom of Light where prosperity never ends!
