Nehemiah 4:2 KJV 1900
And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
Isaiah 46:8–10 KJV 1900
Remember this, and shew yourselves men: Bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors. Remember the former things of old: For I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times the things that are not yet done, Saying, My counsel shall stand, And I will do all my pleasure:
Genesis 50:18–20 KJV 1900
And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
Psalm 103:19 KJV 1900
The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; And his kingdom ruleth over all.
In Nehemiah here we find Nehemiah and the people of Israel in a little bit of a pinch. The wall has been breached. And it seems that they’re just not going to be able to do what they need to do to get the job done. That they just didnt have what it took to fix what was broken.
We do not glorify God by providing His needs, but by praying that He would provide ours—and trusting Him to answer.
John Piper
We don’t have all the answers
In our trials, and things that we face. We don’t have all the answers. We must trust God to answer our prayers, but here’s the catch. YOU have to spend time in prayer
It seems that sometimes the only time we actually seek God is when we need something from him.
God is the provider, not you
God has given us great ability to provide, but we must recognize one thing. He is the ultimate provider. Without him, we have no ability to provide.
What will you do if God doesnt provide exactly how you think he should?
What if God doesn’t do it exactly how you think he should? What would your prayers be like?
Would your worship change?
Would your attitude change?
If you answered yes to those things then your trust in God may need to be reevaluated. If we have problems accepting how God provides then its a pretty good indicator that we’re in control and not him. And that’s never a good thing.
Providence is the governing power of God that oversees his creation and works out his plans for it.
What God makes or creates, he takes care of.
You see he didnt just make you to make you. He made you with loving care. He made you personally. Before you were in your mothers womb. He knew you! He knew all the times you would question why he’s doing what he’s doing. He knew all the times that you were going to say why God. Or get mad that God didnt do it exactly how you though he should have. He knew and knows all of that yet he still PROVIDES for you! In spite of me, in spite of you. He still provides.
Isn’t it good to know that Gods faithfulness and providence is not indicative of how many times you asked why or how many times you thought to yourself, God I dont really like it happening that way, I think it should go this way Instead.
What we must understand is that God is sovereign over ALL things. And his providence is over All things. When we find Paul on the road to Damascus and God speaks to him and tells him it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. He is saying, Paul, you can’t keep kicking against my will and win. Gods ways will be Gods ways despite how we feel about it!
It is a sin as much to quarrel with God’s providence as to deny his providence.
Thomas Watson
A good tip for when we don’t understand or like what God is doing in our lives. Understand that he always has your best interest in mind. His providence is always the best way something could have turned out.
I would like to encourage you and leave you with this:
Whatever things you go through. Questions you may have. You have to realize one thing. Gods providence is in each and everyone of our lives and the Bible is very clear and tells us that he works all things together for the good of those that believe!
God is the great provider! God is who we call on when we have no answers!
God is the one we call on when a family member is in trouble
God is the one we call on when all is hopeless because his providence is ever faithful and ever present.
