History is God’s Story (HIS story).

The Dinner Invitation

Esther and her companions fasted for three days to seek the Lord’s deliverance.
She took her life into her own hands to deliver others from death.
The invitation included a request for Haman to join them. Hidden in the request scholars have noticed the tetragammaton (Yod-Heth-Waw-Heth) in the Hebrew words “let come the King and Haman today”.

יָב֨וֹא הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ וְהָמָן֙ הַיּ֔וֹם

Though the favor of the king was sought, it was really the favor (grace) of Yahweh that was reigning over the whole affair.
A second request if made for the next day.
Haman went to his house glad, but then plotted to kill Mordecai.

Divinely Directed Insomnia

Now we see the hand of the Lord blessing the prayers and work of His people. He kept the king awake that night. He directed the records to be read about Mordecai’s service.
Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther 2. Mordecai Honored; Haman Humiliated (6:4–14)

The reader who is concerned about Mordecai is to understand that God turns adversity into gain.

Haman came early to seek Mordecai’s death, and instead went away forced to honor Mordecai.
Even the “wise men” now saw that God’s favor was with the Jews.

Deliverance Initiated

Esther exposed Haman for the schemer and evil man he was.
The king decreed that Haman was to be killed on his own gallows.
