Staying Committed to the Promise
To date we have heard much about the monuments erected by Israel to remember the important steps in their faith.
One of the stories we did not cover is after all the land was divided one tribe because of the distance erected a monument that was done as a way for them not to forget. It would be the task of the leadership to go and investigate whether or not the monument was in accordance to the God-said.
In our final stop in this book it is important to now speak to the nature of the vision at Remnant. In this we will learn that as we grow and see others fill their spaces in ministry we must ensure they are committed to the vision of the Lord.
This morning I want to publically address those in Remnant Church who are committing
1st to the Lord their God;
2nd to the congregation here at Remnant
Here at Remnant we not only believe in the 5 fold ministry APEST, we have prayed for and asked for the arrival of such people who would fill these spaces, but today after 3.5 years of asking we know they are here.
The Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Shepherd, and Teacher have arrived so that according to the word of God we may grow this body of believers, (not into ourselves) but seeing their giftings as the Lord calls them, anoints them, and appoints them wherever they may go, we will partner and equip them to do the work God has in them.
While today my intent is to by name identify the people (families) that are being called or are being developed into a calling for the function they carry the DNA for… this does not exclude those who are not by name addressed. As I see in the congregation we have mulitples here of those 5 those of you here are not here by mistake some of you will partner with these named to help them steward that role… others of you will be equipped for when one of these
a. is taken into glory
b. is in need of rest or;
c. they are sent elsewhere
that means even if you do not hear your name today it does not mean you do not have purpose here… you as well are an important function o this church
I will not mince words today as I believe today if you are here the Lord has spoken to you and is speaking (though you may not b sure just yet what) of the role and of the 5 fold gifting you carry in you that this church is in need of.

Challenging the Church to commit to their gift before the Lord and the Congregation

Slightly different approach to the sermon as it pertains to every person here.
I want those who have been identified to listen and make a commitment for those who have not been id you are not excluded you as well are being asked to commit as we encounter what your gifting is and how we can walk with you in that gifting

Fierce Commitment to the Lord

Joshua 23:1–3 ESV
A long time afterward, when the Lord had given rest to Israel from all their surrounding enemies, and Joshua was old and well advanced in years, Joshua summoned all Israel, its elders and heads, its judges and officers, and said to them, “I am now old and well advanced in years. And you have seen all that the Lord your God has done to all these nations for your sake, for it is the Lord your God who has fought for you.
The season when all things are working well
Joshua distinguished mature, and well seasoned.
Principles which must stay with those who are laboring or seeking to labor
Fixing eyes on the Lord
First the commitment of the leader is to fix their eyes on the Lord
Divert the focus off of you and back onto the Lord
13x in this chapter Joshua uses the phrase “The Lord Your God”
reminder of all He has done, He is doing, He will do (the victory in Him)
In its greatest effort this is about teaching others it is not I the man but God… Man does not call you, anoint you, or appoint you all of those functions belong to the Lord

Committed to The Work of the Lord

Joshua 23:4–5 ESV
Behold, I have allotted to you as an inheritance for your tribes those nations that remain, along with all the nations that I have already cut off, from the Jordan to the Great Sea in the west. The Lord your God will push them back before you and drive them out of your sight. And you shall possess their land, just as the Lord your God promised you.
Not in the rest of the work 22-25 years of rest from the enemy… there is much more work ahead… you no longer have time to waste
The promise is that as long as you are serving His Kingdom He will continue to drive the enemy back
Grasp the vision for the things of the Lord
Earthly vision drives desire for earthly possessions
Kingdom vision desires for the things of The Lod
Quick check to see the what vision
check your prayer language… what are you asking God for
For the Christian Leader when is your work done… 2 options
When you die
When the Lord Returns
You were not called to be consumers you were called to be active participants in the Kingdom

Committed to the Word Not Turning to the Right or Left

Joshua 23:6 ESV
Therefore, be very strong to keep and to do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, turning aside from it neither to the right hand nor to the left,
Israel it is the law of Moses; Christian Leader for you it is the word of God
There is no greater source of truth for you but the word of God it is your source. (STAY IN YOUR WORD)
Simple to not turn… Complexity that comes with two fatal warnings
Turning to the Right = legalism (adding burdens as though they are mandates)
Turning to the Left = lawlessness (dismissing commands as though they are not necessary
Ecclesiastes 7:16–17 ESV
Be not overly righteous, and do not make yourself too wise. Why should you destroy yourself? Be not overly wicked, neither be a fool. Why should you die before your time?
Legalism burdens that one themselves cant keep and leads to destruction
Lawlessness overly wicked leads people to die before their time
committed to the word, committed to the congregation and commitment to balance

Committed to the Love of the Lord

Joshua 23:11 ESV
Be very careful, therefore, to love the Lord your God.
Rev 2 speaks of the danger of falling out of love with the Lord...
Ignite that passion for the Lord and the vision of the Lord that you would not find yourself Bored or “burntout” time to retire or sabbatical ( a break from serving the Lord?)
Is this because of me?

Committed to Serving the Lord Only

Josh 23 goes on to delineate a few warnings.
Careful who you forge covenants with… these will become your snare, trap, whip, thorns...
Serve no other God… lest His anger be kindled against you....
Yes not even the god of self… the charge is to constantly see... is this for me or for the Lord my God.
The Commitment I ask of
Prophet- Julieann, Evangelist- Victor,
Shepherd- Taylor Family
Teachers- Williams Family
First as they grow into these gifts for Remnant Church, and for those of you who know your gift or desire to know your gift is as follows
Fierce Commitment to the Lord… You serve at His request… you faithfulness and fidelity belong to Him here or wherever you go.
Committed to the Work of the Lord… your work is complete when you are called home or when the Lord returns until then you must do as the Lord calls you
Committed to the Word Not Turning to the Right or Left…function in balance keeping the word of God at the center… never imposing your burden as mandates… nor giving freedom to lawlessness
Committed to the Love of the Lord… you cannot find yourself dispassionate for Him, or His people Love Him with all you have that you will guard His people faithfully
Committed to Serving the Lord Only…There is only one that deserves your everything and the is the Lord you serve… let no other take His place… and serve no other but Him alone.
Remnant Church your Apostle Prophet Evangelist Shepherd and Teacher are now here… Additionally many of you here are stepping or will be stepping into these spaces to build what the Lord wants… lets pray for each of these that the Lord will give wisdom, guide in all truth, breath His Spirit on each, and give strength and courage to each of these as they step into the calling the Lord has for them.
