He will be our Peace

The origin of the Promise-
when man kind had fallen
It was God’s response to sin
The promise of a Savior who brought:
Hope
redemption
salvation

Our Worse times are God’s greatest promises.

The Promise of God was
Genesis 3:15 CSB
I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.
The Word God used - to Crush - Jesus the offspring was going to “batter” the serpent.
1 John 3:8
Christian Standard Bible (Chapter 3)
The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works.
Jesus Christ has destroyed all the devil’s works- This is the promise to those who are in Christ-
God spoke it and Jesus accomplished it
But when was it spoken?
it wasn’t at the peak of civilization
It wasn’t when everything was on the up and up
Mankind hadn’t done anything great in the moment
It Came at a time when everything was crashing
when Death enter the scene
When satan was given the authority to cause pain and havoc in God’s creation because of Sin.
Yet this was the Time God spoke a message of Hope that would bring Peace.
In the midst of brokenness God makes a promise or restoring Good fortune

Calamities give way to prosperity

Micah 5:1–5 CSB
Now, daughter who is under attack, you slash yourself in grief; a siege is set against us! They are striking the judge of Israel on the cheek with a rod. Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; one will come from you to be ruler over Israel for me. His origin is from antiquity, from ancient times. Therefore, Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of the ruler’s brothers will return to the people of Israel. He will stand and shepherd them in the strength of the Lord, in the majestic name of the Lord his God. They will live securely, for then his greatness will extend to the ends of the earth. He will be their peace. When Assyria invades our land, when it marches against our fortresses, we will raise against it seven shepherds, even eight leaders of men.
This prophecy begins in a terrible time for those who are hearing it. Micah 5:1- is speaking to those who are under attack and those who were supposed ot save them were being stuck on the cheek-
This is a time of defeat
embarrassment
Suffering
this is the valley of the darkness, where most dwell
The constant attack of the enemy on their lives, their minds, their hope.
their is no hope
But Why are the people in this situation?
Deuteronomy 28:15 CSB
“But if you do not obey the Lord your God by carefully following all his commands and statutes I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overtake you:
Deuteronomy 28:20 CSB
The Lord will send against you curses, confusion, and rebuke in everything you do until you are destroyed and quickly perish, because of the wickedness of your actions in abandoning me.
Blessing come from walking with God, and the opposite happens when we walk away from God
We leave His covering
We leave His provision
We leave His protection
It is the back story to the passage that we read

God never leaves us to our own calamity

Just like in the Garden God response to Sin not with judgement but with a promise
It is here in this moment God makes a promise
He points to the Messiah
Jesus would be born in Bethlehem
In Matthew 2 when Herod wants to Kill Jesus- He go to scripture to find where Jesus would be born, and turns exactly to the scripture we just read

God doesn’t want anyone to miss His promise

What is the Promise
In Isaiah 9 it is Light to break through our darkness
It hope that breaks through the mundane
It is abundant Life
It is blessing
and it is Peace

Peaces comes through victory, and victory comes through a victor.

Micah 5:2 CSB
Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; one will come from you to be ruler over Israel for me. His origin is from antiquity, from ancient times.
One will come to be ruler
His origin is from antiquity, from ancient times
When God saved the world He promised His Son.
John 1:1–4 CSB
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
The angels proclaimed the messages of Peace on Earth that comes through the Son of God
-Unto us a child is born
He is the one who is going to break the rod of the oppressor and in turn give us peace through victory
1 John 3:8 CSB
The one who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works.
He destroys the devil’s work
For those in Christ the devil has no power over you because Christ has destroyed all His works
The yoke of oppression is broken
Because Christ has come and made peace through
1 John 4:2–6 CSB
This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming; even now it is already in the world. You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world. Therefore what they say is from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Anyone who knows God listens to us; anyone who is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.
