While it is legal to get an abortion in America, it is getting more difficult in many states. In 2012, seventeen states set new additional limits on abortion, making it harder to obtain one. These laws include a longer waiting period, to forcing the woman to listen to a detailed description of the fetus during the required ultrasound, to warning about more possible risks of abortion. In a few states, there is still only one abortion clinic. Since 2008 the number of abortions has slightly fallen. This is also likely due to the decrease in marriages and the increase in preventative measures to prevent pregnancy.

Despite the horrifying fact that millions of babies’ lives are ended each year, there may be glimmers of hope as laws are enacted that make it not as easy to abort, and are more in line with God’s concerns and love for each life that He creates. .—Jim L. Wilson and Brent Young
