Attended church briefly and Doug had a reputation as a good kid. He didn't know God when he graduated from high school his parents moved to Perth Australia and Doug went to Georgia Tech in Atlanta to get a degree in electrical engineering upon arriving at Atlanta. God loved to First Baptist Church to sit under the preaching of Charles Stanley God began to open dogs to the sinfulness of his own heart and to the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. He trusted Christ was baptized and hunger to know God's word. So after obtaining his engineering degree it began studying at Mid American Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis to get a master in Divinity. After a short time in the ministry God allow Doug to experience the pain of divorce which resulted in a move to Huntsville in 1986 with in a couple years. He met and married Connie now 35 years later dog and Connie have three daughters and three sons-in-law all of which are Believers by God's grace and will be here for Christmas. He also has one grandson and heaven and a new grandson. Step-grandson. That is about 12 years old dog and Connie at and first Bible Church in Madison, Doug also wants you to know that you can ask him anyway. All right with you turn over that time right now to dump trailer.

So we get set up with some kind of the way. I do things. I like to teach and so we may have some interaction, so don't be bashful.

Whatever you want to do there.

So I'm a bit of a geek in addition.

very smooth

in this behind it.

microphone

Close enough.

All right. I'll try not to trip. Is this good?

Alright, let's see if this works.

Feel like I'm eating this thing. All right. So you heard a little bit about me besides having lovely grandsons and in a beautiful daughters with I hope you get to meet someday and I wish I would have added their pictures up here cuz I love to brag about my family by the way Robert Roberts who is my best buddy at work and we were chatting the other day and I was talking about retiring and maybe 6 to 36 months to three years don't know but when I do look at it biblical counseling looking at the preaching occasionally like this when a pastor goes on vacation and we bumped into each other at the Toyota dealership and he had his he had his Chinese Sunday school lesson, which I just thought was the coolest thing ever all printed out and and the Chinese there in the end then I was at my Bible was trying to catch up I try to read through the Bible each year and we got to talk about my retirement and he said would you ever be interested in preaching in our English service? What yes, I'm intrigued so so that was about a month ago and had a conversation with Matthew and here I am today. So I do want to say you know, we're all Sinners were all suffers and by God's grace we can be Saints and continued with its process. So today we're going to look in the Book of Psalms at Psalm 19. I think this is foundational. It is so foundational and I really struggled with a title of this how to summarize it but it's it's going to be easier to say we're going to have one scene that's going to repeat over and over and over as we read through Psalm cuz I want to drive one thing home, but What what I want us to do today is have a prayer in our hearts as we read through Psalm 19 and study it I mentioned in my bio that I threw together because I've never done it before so I did that what four days three four days ago and but the one thing they got put in my heart as a new believer was a hunger cuz I grew up in church and all I really remember learning. I'm not blaming that church necessarily, but all I remembered learning was be a good boy and and so win when God open my heart to my open my eyes and my heart to see my own sinfulness and in the Salvation through Jesus, I was so hungry for his word and truth. So the prayer today is that we might see God And that we might please him. Okay. So we're going to start at the bottom. We're going to start it first 14 out of this. And so this is mostly an IV is what I've put into the notes Here on the on the screen, but let me read this and then we're going to read it together out loud. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Oh Lord my rock and my redeemer. So together if you don't mind, can you see it? Okay, if somebody already seen that back a little bit.

So maybe everybody can see it if I have to I'm going to move the rollers, but I think we're good. So let's read this together and I wanted to be prayer prayer out of your heart. Here we go. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Oh Lord my rock and my redeemer, so we're going to highlight a few words here before. We really get into the rest of Psalm 19.

First I want to I want to point out the words.

What do you say? What do you say throughout the day? Throughout the week what words are coming out of your mouth and my mouth. Well, that's really that's really the fruit. So we need to go deeper. We need to go to the root. Okay, what's the meditation of your heart? What is it that you think about throughout the day? Okay, so that's the route that's where it starts in K and that's what bubbles out. So we need to we need to understand that the route.

Is our heart. Okay. So when our prayer here we're saying Lord. Let my meditation of my heart. Please you be acceptable. There is nothing greater. What if you're familiar with the what is the chief end of man to glorify God and enjoy him forever right to glorify God to be pleasing to him. Do you have a hunger in your heart the route to be pleasing to him? And then it gets personal. Oh Lord, y'all y'all way my rock and my redeemer. So we're going to we're going to repeat that verse number of times as we look into this.

Probably had friends and probably you even said these words yourself. But if only the God would speak to me in that help me understand if God would if I could just hear his voice then I would understand better and I could I could walk better. My face would be stronger. Well the purpose of Psalm 19 is it exactly that it is to tell us it constantly God does speak. And this is how it's broken out in the psalm 19. So if you have your Bible your I do I do encourage you by the way.

You know, I'm a geek. So I'm I use all technology in seminary learn two years of Greek. That doesn't mean I know much and I did one year of Hebrew doesn't mean I know much but I love the tools we have so many we are blessed with so many Tools in this day and age to help you study but a physical Bible allows you to make notes and just the other day. I was reading this was my mom's Bible my mom passed away in 2007, and I normally don't like a big old massive thing to carry around but now that my eyesight's going bad or maybe that's better but this is not large print. So we're even right now. I'm having to put on my glasses in a minute but a physical Bible allows you to Market and leave a diary for your children. And as I started reading through this one just three years ago and picked it up and see how the Bible and she has some markings in there. She was only a growing believer. And maybe the last 10 years of her life and I was not living with her or even in the same city, so I didn't get to experience her day by day by day walk with God and yes, I can see her notes in here. And that's it. That's a neat that's a neat fellowship with me and my mom just course. She's not here, but just to hear her heartbeat and see what she she sees and then I said to myself as I read through this I've read through it one year and I marked it with read anything. I saw it in the next Euro Market in Green in this you're actually I'm using a purple pen. Okay. So in these three years, I'm just marking through what have I learned this year? What am I seeing? And God's word this year. So a physical Bible is very very good thing that I plan on leaving this one of my children and my original Bible that I used for. 20 years 25 years. It's all marked up and falling apart Pages falling out of it, but that'll be left for a different daughter.

Alright God speaks. He speaks in through his creation. We're going to see this very obviously in the first 6 verses he speaks through his written word. The scriptures were going to see that well, so what was that mean? What's that have to do with you? I thought it interesting. I found this quote I am going to leave this a little bit.

Windows crashing to the ground you just laugh. It's okay.

Does that help at all for you?

All right, so Robert Boyle, I'm not a big Robert Boyle fan. I don't know him that well, sorry. He's probably a terrific guy. But I love this quote the two great books of Nature and the scripture have the same author. Okay. God did both God created both. And so the ladder IE, the scripture does not stop you or hinder you at all in acquisitive man's does light in the study of nature. So I want to I want to pull that thread a little bit as we move forward here. God speaks. First of all, how does he speak in his creation? Okay if you we need to be listening as he creates The heavens I lovers 1 take a look at work at 1 whatever translation you have the heavens declare the glory of God and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. If you've done any reading or studying of the Psalms, you know poetry and maybe you've heard that when the authors wrote poetry in the Hebrew culture that time they were repeated themselves for emphasis. And so they do that here the heavens, you know that ties in with the sky above and so there's a repetition there's a declaration going on here. The that is proclaiming. What is it for claiming the glory of God?

And his work. Now, okay. I'm going to open the floor. So here we go. You ready? What is the glory of God was it mean? You might give me a definition. Go ahead shout it out. Don't be bashful.

Very good very good. And can you give me an example in anyone at an example where you just went when you saw something that God created?

It was a particular part of the Smokies. I mean all the smoke is really cool.

Yeah, somebody ever been to the Grand Canyon.

Yeah, I've been there my wife and I went there. I don't know 6 years ago, maybe ten years ago something like that and we we got to one spot and it was huge and she was like is this all it is? But she was right because we weren't even at the biggest where it just goes and goes and goes we were two massive and it was almost like a mile deep. But she knew there was more even more. What's your most amazing experience of the sky? Stay the night sky in the Stars we ever seen just Beauty like that. Where can you can you tell me a story? Where you've done that you seen it.

I think you know you actually stole my story because my my dad many many years ago. You must be 30 years ago. I took the family down the Colorado River we did exactly that. We slept on the sand. We never slept in a tent we were on the the river seven nights. I think it was and every time we stopped we were just on The Sandbar, you know a little bit off the water never had we had rain on the trip down hiking down anyway long story. So I'll shorten it, but we did exactly that we slept. No light pollution they call it right no city lights. No nothing. All you did you looked up and you just saw every Star seemed to be shining. Brightly. You could watch the the satellites go by and this is about the speed. They would go by you know, and you could watch the Des Plaines Million Miles Away fly in and blinking their lights and shooting stars star. We know that but it was amazing now. That's the only gosh God is big picture. Can you imagine where God's creation? Not only that the big big big things. What what I think it's really cool as we as we analyze and dig deeper in the smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller things. What are some things you've learned already in school? What's what is matter made up of?

Adams what's an atom made up of

very good. So you got the electrons around the outside. What's in the middle? That's right. That's right. Now what if we learned recently I'm saying recently 20 years. I don't know go below that. What is that don't even know what that is, you know, and then now we're learning about this quantum entanglement. What is the distance? So I guess Einstein called it that and I I'm a geek but not a geek. I'm kind of a translator between a geek and a real world. So, you know if he asked me to any go beyond what I've just said my limit so but it's just amazing. Now. What is this verse? Tell us what is this verse Tellez? about God's creation There's a declaration happening. This is not a quiet thing. This is a big frame. This is his creation. Hey. God did this that's what creation does it proclaims It's shouting from the rooftops and it's also

It's also like you get a you know, how you do tally marks and you do one two, three four, and then you slice at 5 at that that's kind of have this this word. Is it is there's another one where God did that God did that everywhere in creation? It is just proclaiming God did that. He's real. Now just looking at that. What does that tell us about God? I mean Let me Give an example if I walk out on a beach and the waves not the waves but the tide has gone out and it's nobody's been on that beach yet. Maybe I'm going to hotel room on the 8th floor or something and I'm looking out on this amazing Beach and I see a little shape in the sand and it kind of looks like an l Okay. I said well, you know, I don't know what she'll that was dragged by the waves or something as he was going out form. Danil. But if I look out and I see the entire Gospel of John written in the sand. When the tide went out I'm probably not going to say wow. Look what the tide. Did you know, I'm going to say somebody did that. Somebody went out there and wrote entire Gospel of John in this and why would I think that That didn't occur naturally. Somebody had to do that. That's what this is all declaring that somebody is God. He did that. So it's got a next first day to day pours out. Speech.

It pours it out. I mean this is like overflowing. This is just it just coming night tonight. Oh, by the way, this is supposed to be the sun it is and this is the moon so that's why you no picture there night tonight reveals our unveils knowledge It's happening all the time.

Nighttime daytime doesn't matter. It's happening. There is a lot of talk about repetition. There's no speech there are no words necessarily. There's no place where the voice is not heard their voice goes out through all the Earth their words to the end of the world. And another another quality of Hebrew poetry is not only the repetition but it'll it'll kind of go this Direction One Way in this direction up and that's why you see speech on the outside and voice is on the inside. And then words are kind of on the outside. But the point is it's happening and it is loudly Proclaim proclaimed. And every in every language in every language, by the way, how many of you speak more than one language anybody in here speak more than one language. I speak three languages. Hey, buddy. I'm just kind of curious. I think you're really what what does what languages do you speak?

Nice, so your Spanish pretty good. That's awesome. I am so jealous. I just want you to know that I think being able to speak multiple languages is a goes into these various cultures and he's just a gifted he speaks their language and their native tongue and a cow what a gift that would be. So in this creation, God has set a tent for the Sun. Which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber and like a strong? This is poetry. This is just put your right here like a strong man runs. Its course with joy. It's rising is from the end of the heavens and it's circuit to the end of them and there is nothing hidden from its heat. All right, I want you to what do you think he is the prime and I need your help here. What do you think is the primary teaching God is saying I mean if poetry and it's beautiful and it's from the perspective of the poet as he looks out and watches the sun or yeah, I got my own photograph.

Yeah, not that that matters. It's not a video. I took this at the beach, but all right. So what is your teaching here?

And think about where we've come from God created everything and he's got a purpose for the sun here. Is there another? Some keywords for our Christian faith is going to grow us here. What do you see? You can't go wrong. So go ahead.

Say again strongly in. Okay good. So it runs with joy like a strong man.

I want it I accidentally sent it there but I really think a key word here. Also his Joy.

You know what? I know. It's a personification of the Sun. But there's a joy in creation and I want emotions are god-given. God gave us emotions. God gave us excitement.

Runs, of course with joy, there's a final thing. I do want to pull out here. There is nothing hidden. Okay. That's the same we're going to bump into again in a minute. So God is saying in his creation of go back a little bit. There is no place where the voice is not heard. He's It is it is through all the Earth. Okay, we're creation speaks out. Even if you leave this planet go to Mars to live go somewhere else. Guess what? You're not escaping God's creation this screaming out. There's a God. Okay, there is nothing hidden from the Sun here on this Earth. If it if the sun goes away, it's not going to get it for us, you know, we need that even in even in the Arctic Circle and South Pole north pole. they have a level of heat that allows this planet to survive. There's so many things in this creation that just point the guy that angle of the rotation of the earth a distance from the Sun all the different planets the moon and how it affects the tides which causes the climate so many things. So God reveals himself and Creations. So what? First question. Are you listening? Are you listening to God do you hear him? Do you rejoice in it? Do you rejoice in him by seeing it? Why did I put that one there?

Is it possible to rejoice in creation without rejoicing in God? Yeah, that's a real problem. That's a common problem in our own culture. Okay. So what I want to pull out of this is there is there is a I have a good friend.

Good friend, maybe not the right word co-worker that I respect a lot. Hey, not only is he an atheist? He hates religion and puts on Facebook. Probably 10 posts everyday hating Christians hating religion hating all things of that nature. And guess what? He says about saying it's right. You've heard it. I trust the science religion poo poo on that Isle. Of course, I didn't have anything to say about love source of love right doesn't say anything about the inner man with so there's a lot of missing pieces and yet we should never fear science because who created that God did all the early scientists studied science

In the beginning was the word and the Word was flashing the word that word is where we get logic. God created this we should rejoice in science. You should be very interested in science for God's glory because God created it's his he speaks and that's where we get back to his voice is speaking loudly inside. So we need to rejoice in His science. Here's a Louis Pasteur. I bumped into this on Facebook posterity will one day laugh at the foolishness of modern materialistic philosophers the more I study nature God's creation the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator. I pray while I am engaged at my work in the laboratory. gay found her microbiology and Immunology, so He was a scientist who studied and he prayed as he worked when you do your school work. When you do your Contracting for the Army when we do our day-to-day lives, are we praying and saying God I do this work for you your glory. That's the way he did it. That's the way we should do it and he was studying the unknown at this time. He's trying to figure out what's going on. I know you had a purpose in creating it this way in and then I'm going to figure that out and help me help me God. I figure this out. Okay, Isaac Newton the most beautiful system of the sun planets and comets could only proceed from the council and Dominion of an intelligent and Powerful being this being governs all things not as the soul of the world, but as the Lord over it he is not his creation. Those two are not the creation is not God. Pantheism all that kind of stuff. Not true. He is over his creation. Okay. So this being covers all things not as the soul of the world, but as the Lord over all and on account of his Dominion, he is want Good Old English Old English. He is want to be called lord God. Okay famous American preacher from late 1700s. This is a PDS wrote this about Jonathan Edwards. His precocious intelligence. I can't even say the word and range of intellect was evident very early on he learned Latin. He read Newton's Optics and wrote about rainbows in the captivating movement of spiders. Okay. This was a world-renowned. I mean at that time God used him to bring about a Revival and it's basically the same great awaiting here here in America huge Revival not solely through him of course, but he was a major instrument of God at that time. But the scientist in his spare time. He loved God's creation reveling in nature. He found a Divine glory and almost everything. Are you finding God's glory and everything? Hugh Ross know this is a scientist today. He hasn't website reasons.org reasons to believe he's an astrophysicist talks a lot about the uniqueness of this created world and how we wouldn't be here. If some of those things I talked about earlier had not happened if if we weren't exactly this far from the Sun if we didn't have this exact angle one of spin that we didn't rotated that exact speed. We didn't have the moon doing what the moon does so many things just just pivotal The Entity who brought the universe into existence must be a personal being For only a personal being can design with anywhere near this degree of precision. Okay. Nothing from something. God created it how we did it. There's still some mystery. I've got I must be honest in myself. You know how that we don't know all the science yet. Don't know if we ever will that's okay. We had a lot of theories. Someone might be right. Someone might be wrong. They all can't be right, but God did it. And you should study it and I should study it but we know we can trust him now. I want to bring some scriptural references of people that went beyond. Religion Beyond just faith in God here Solomon. We know he was a wisest man that lived on the earth at the time wrote the Proverbs wrote some songs, but he had a great insight and breadth of understanding. He spoke about plant. This is a quote from scripture. He spoke about plant life about animals about birds reptiles and fish.

He wasn't just a man of wisdom. Okay, how about Meshach Shadrach in a Bendigo and Daniel? To these this weekend quote from the scripture to these four young man. God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning the king talk with him and found none equal in every matter of wisdom and understanding he found in 10 times better than all this whole Kingdom than anyone else. Okay, so, We have confirmed the God speaks through his creation. Well, is that sufficient is that all we need do we just go to Creation now, and we've got all our answers about life and Liberty and our souls and our Inner Man and salvation know but is it also sufficient for something? Yes. It is Romans. Romans Chapter 1 what may be known about God is plain. Okay. So creation is talking about creation here because God has made it plain for since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities. His eternal two things is eternal power and divine nature has been clearly seen. It's clear being understood from what has been made so that people are without excuse. So there's a sufficiency here in creation, but no human being alive. Now then or in the future could ever say I didn't know there was a god I didn't know there was a powerful God. I didn't know that there was a divine nature. because it's yelled from the it's yelled from the mountain tops and from the stars and from the courts and from the atoms in the protons every single day, so They are without excuse for although they knew God in this by his Revelation through creation. They neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him. And that's it. That's a very important phrase. They didn't give thanks to him, but they're sinking. Okay meditations of your heart became futile and their foolish Hearts were darkened. Wow, there's that route again.

Keep looking for the route because it's everywhere you reading the scriptures. Okay, here it is again. If you don't mind, let's just all we can wake up and read this together again. Here we go ready? Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Oh Lord my rock and my redeemer meditation of my heart. the acceptable

so God speaks. He speaks in his creation. He also speaks in his word.

The law of the Lord is perfect. Now we going to verse 7. So we've gone through the first six versus I will go a little quicker through the rest of the law of the Lord is perfect. Now we're talkin about the scriptures. What is the law of the Lord do it provides the sole resurrection of the so now we're we're going from the external world and we're starting to look at the internal. This is what science cannot answer those questions about the soul. We're learning a lot of counseling medicine. My my middle know my youngest daughter studied the human brain. She did really well on our act and was trying to go PhD then she realized me and I'll research is not for me. She's very social person. Now, she's working at a Gene & Cell Therapy manufacturing plant in Memphis, but she was studying the brain. There's a lot of things have you heard of the brain barrier? There's a barrier and medications have a hard time getting through that married into the brain. And anyways, we're starting to understand there was a big thing about chemical imbalance and trying to do the Gateway only kind of figured out that's not quite right as it kind of a placebo effect there in a locate Works were there may be something there but we're not real sure. There's so many things we still don't know about this human body and science will be a help for that and yet the soul. Is what really has to be? What it was a matter if he gain the whole world and lose your soul the law of the Lord is perfect Reviving The Soul. Okay. This is the inner man. This is what matters but the word of God is alive. Okay. So there's there's again the connection up here to the word of God is alive sharper than any two-edged sword and God Psalm 23. He refreshes my soul. Okay. The testimony of the Lord is sure making wise the simple. I want to camp out here just for second. I really believe Okay, Mike my middle daughter talked about her just using my middle daughter has it. She's married to Spencer. This is Trish's Trish is married to Spencer. They live down in Hattiesburg, Mississippi Spencer getting a deal. So he's becoming a doctor. He's finished his schooling now. He's in residency Spencer is the youngest. I'm sorry. He's the oldest Down syndrome. Okay spin sir, and then he has two brothers and a sister. So he was second in that line. But his Down syndrome brother of God, and it was so cool that just to see his Wanting to share with his the head of ministry at their church was down syndrome children from various parents various ages. I don't know maybe 10:10 in that church up in the Franklin near Franklin, Tennessee, and he was an evangelist. Now it was very simple. It was a simple Faith a childlike faith. But he would encourage all of his friends Jesus into your heart Jesus in your heart and that's all he ever did really.

But wisdom, he shared and he passed away during covid-19.

But the testimony of the Lord is sure what does that mean? Take a look at your translation. Do you have a different word in the second half of the first seven if you have a different word rather than sure. What is your translation say?

trustworthy any other

trustworthy sure What does that imply to you? What does that word? I'm sorry. We're in Psalm 19 and we're looking at versus 7 the second-half. It's what that b means.

So if you go to the first the law of the Lord is perfect. and then the second half of the verse testimony the Lord is Is your Play Perfect nephew?

statutes yes. Yes, very good. Some of these Hebrew words can be translated. You know, it's like the saying he bathes himself. He washed himself. What is there a big difference there? And it's the same here Psalm 119 is full of so many. Okay, the precepts the law of the testimony to statutes the the decrees of God so many ways of saying that same thing and it's different Hebrew words, but it's I'm sure you work with different languages and you know that it's sometimes it's not as super clear cut one word always means exactly only one word in the next language. There's flavors do it. That's why it is important to study the Greek and Hebrew and go back to the original. All right. The testimony of the Lord is sure you can trust it and it makes wise the simple real here's a question for you. And I asked my my new stepson. Step-grandson. What's the difference between being wise and being intelligent?

What's the difference between being wise and being smart? So what do you think? Give me an answer young people only sorry. Yes.

Oh good good. So there's a moral aspect between right and wrong. I like that. I like that very good.

So you might be intelligent really smart about a lot of data. But you can still be mean to people. And be smart, right? You might make really bad choices and be very smart used to work with youth at our church. And there's one kid. He was 7 7th grade 7th grade boys Howard for 7th grade boys. I literally after 2 weeks of working with the boys. I went to our youth pastor in tears. I went to our youth pastor is an adult in tears and said, I don't know if I can do. He said he said do what you got to do. I stuck with them from 7th grade actually from fifth grade, but when they had seventh grade that was tough until I graduated high school, but this one in particular he was extremely smart, but extremely unwise on purpose. making wrong choices on purpose to show his rebellious heart

broke my heart to this day is not a Believer will have some conversations every once in awhile. It's been he's now probably 33 so The testimony of the Lord is where you're going to find the wisdom to understand your own heart and soul and what it means to walk with God. I'm constantly amazed as I read through the scripture things. I did not see I've heard that first hundreds of times and I see that for the first time I see something new in there about myself about God about my neighbors about something and I say up. How is I miss this all these years? But if you will open your eyes if you prayed God open your eyes, you'll see it. Okay, so some I mean Proverbs 1 verse for they the testimonies the statutes of God, they make the under uneducated wise and give knowledge. And since we got a lot of young people in here makes the uneducated wise gives knowledge and sense to the young. You want to be a wise person and a well-respected person get in the word of God. Study the word of God know the word of God and know the god of the word, right? Okay, it gives understanding to the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right. I bet your translation is a different word are teak maybe but here's again, I want you to really see this. talking about the scriptures Hey, look we have the route again.

the precepts of the Lord are right rejoicing The heart so I have a quick question for you. Is your heart happy when you read God's word? Are you glad to hear him speak through his word? Are you rejoicing in your heart?

What is the evidence of that what does it look like when you know, how would you know if your heart is happy when you read God's word now some some some of God's words going to hit you pretty hard. It might bring a I pray it does. I pray I pray the word of it's broken my heart time or two more than a time or two.

What are we what is the what is Gospel? What does that word mean? Gospel?

What do we call it? Good news. So even if the word of God breaks your heart and points out sending your life anger anxiety all sorts of then we could name grieve power lust for all that stuff, even though and God's word pointed out. We have good news. There's good news Jesus. That's why he came. All right. The Commandment of the Lord is pure enlightening the eyes. Are we have a I had to go find some in a visual aid.

Emma their will Matthew 6 Jesus said the light of the body is the eye. For this people's heart. He also said for this people's heart has become calloused. Oh, wow, what becomes calloused? the heart and the light of the body is the eyes. So here's again the route.

The root is exposed or revealed. Through The Eyes

For This people's heart has become calloused. They have closed their eyes. Otherwise, they might see with her eyes understand with her. What? hearts and turn and I would heal them. It's God always goes back to your heart and my heart. The fear of the Lord is clean. Enduring forever the rules of the Lord are true and righteous altogether, you know in this world modern world would talk a lot about what is truth and it said that back in the day when he was persecuting Jesus. What is truth I can tell you where to find it? for Spiritual truth in the word of God

This is a key key part as well. The word of God is more to be desired. then gold find gold. The word of God is sweet.

Sweeter than honey, and the drippings of the honeycomb. So the question comes up another quiz question. Could you prove in a court of law?

That your heart yearns to hear God speak through his word. If I went over the last month of your life, and then I pulled up the video camera for I've snuck into your world and video know we had the the thing recording everything you ever said and everything you ever did cuz God has that. What would he say about how much you love his word? Would there be evidence? It is awesome to go to church. It is a blessing to gather with God's people of every tribe tongue Nation.

But if that's all we do is that loving God's word probably not. so be wise where your treasure is there your what?

your heart so just like that verse said more to be desired. Are they than gold more than much fine gold. What is your desire?

What is your desire? Because where your treasure is there, your heart will be also write the scriptures. Also warn you they give you warnings blessed are you if you do this person are you if you do this the wages of sin is what? See my new neighbors. Romans 6:23 great wages of sin is what? Death, okay. That's a warning you do things God's way you'll you'll be blessed in your heart and your soul and your life is everything to be perfect.

Let's talk about Joseph got thrown in prison. Let's talk about Jesus who was crucified. He did absolutely everything, right? So obeying God does not guarantee Prosperity Prosperity Health & Wealth. It doesn't talk about Corrie Ten Boom who was in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany and yet had the joy of the Lord walking through that experience talk about Joni eareckson Tada who is 17 years olds at 18 years old dog into a lake. Broken neck paralyzed paraplegic both couldn't still can she still living forgot how old she is about 67 somewhere in there roughly but to this day she uses that as a Ministry for God. Have you seen that other video of the guy with no arms and no legs need to get this one little flipper foot and he goes to colleges and high schools around the world and share the gospel. for the glory of God That's awesome, but the scripture gives warning. And tells us that when we disobey God there are consequences. You jump out of a tall building and you you don't have a pair of shoes. You don't have one of those wind suits or whatever you jump out of a tall building gravity is going to win. There's going to be a Splat when you hit the ground, okay? When you disobey God when I disobeyed God when any of us disobeys God there are consequences. You can be forgiven for the for the sin what consequences might remain forever. So be careful, all scripture is god-breathed and is useful for teaching rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. I like the view those four things just look up here. We got teaching it teaches us. What is right? Rebuking when we don't do the right thing. It's going to rebuke has the word of God's going to say you did that wrong. Correction, but it doesn't leave this right there. It says here's how you get from the wrong to start taking the right steps. And then day by day by day by day training us. And that righteousness so that we walk with God. We're still in Psalm 19 in keeping the word of God. There is great reward that we went back to the curses. Are those who disobey God here we get blessed are those who obey God and look at that. Look at the look at the passage a quote from some night 119 blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with what what to say

All the heart now, man. My heart must be pretty pretty important.

What is this? What's the number one commandment the greatest?

It's writing. What's the first word that love the Lord your God with all your what? Heart lots of work. So what's the greatest sin if that's the greatest commandment was very soon. Not to love the Lord your God with all your heart soul mind and strength.

So God speaks. Or we can do about it. He is very personal. I love this picture. I just found this this morning and added that to my little thing little girl running to Jesus. and that is that is the the everything now David this is this whole Psalm is the song David. We'll finish up in just a minute who can discern his own errors remember way back we talked about the sun when God created the sun on this early and it says nothing is hidden from its heat and now we see in verse 12 Declare me innocent from hidden faults. How well do you know yourself? Sometimes I think I Know Myself pretty well. I know what makes me upset. I know what makes me depressed. I know what makes me excited and happy. But what is a Jeremiah 17:9 say the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked who can know it. I'd really don't know my own heart matter fact when I became a Christian I was as I mention I grew up in a church told to be a good boy Society thought I was a pretty good boy. They didn't know everything but one day somebody shared with me. I was a between my Junior and Senior High School. Somebody shared all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. They shared that works with me and it went straight in it went straight there. I knew I made it look like a good boy, but I knew it wasn't true soon. As God shared that verse with me. It declared to me my hidden faults. And I used to have a question why they keep talking about Jesus. I mean God the father is the head dude why they keep talking about Jesus. Cuz there is no other name given under heaven. Whereby we must be saved Jesus say that I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except by Me. Jesus is the answer the good news. All right Hebrews 4:12, we started this meant to go for the word of God is alive alive and sharper than any two-edged sword didn't have room for all of it. But it penetrates I'm talking about Hidden Falls sear it penetrates. It judges the thoughts that sounds like a route right and attitudes or another route those come out of our heart of the sea. What hard Nothing, this is right in the scripture. Nothing is hidden while there's that thing again. Nothing is hidden from God's sight by the word of God get in the word. Nothing will be hidden. Everything is uncovered. And laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we have to give account. Everything is laid bare. What is Psalm? 139 search me o God know my heart heart know my heart. See if there be any wicked way in the Indian show that to me so I can repent.

He's closing up the song Here keep back from your servant. Also, keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over you. I want to talk about that real quick. Some of you have friends that really struggle covid was a tough time for four people know that's not the source when the only time people have tough times. I mentioned in my bio. I went through a divorce that was rough. I was in the ministry at the time. I was at a church associate pastor and my wife left not because of though she's she's bad and I was a perfect we both had a lot of baggage. We took into the marriage. Anna and she walked out and we tried to get it back together and that didn't happen. I was tough that's hard. We lost I mentioned in my bio that my middle daughter lost her baby at 21 weeks along sonogram said she didn't have any amniotic fluid in there in the width in the womb for her baby and I learned a lot medically just understanding how did that happen? And we don't know it's God's choice and They Carried little baby Avery to term knowing that little baby Avery would live one hour and that's about what little baby Avery did how stuff.

So the question is what do you do when tough things happen? That's where wisdom comes in. Does that take dominion over you? Does it inside of you?

Do you deal with it? Presumptuously and sin do I.

Let's read this together. We're almost there. Let's read it together. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Oh Lord my rock and my redeemer as I prepared for the sermon. I just went to bed at night and I just quoted that over and over as I try to fall asleep and I want to share this worse now because of this Dominion aspect in the battles. You have friends. Some of you may have struggles we all do as I mentioned the beginning. We're also a we suffer from this world that is falling we suffer from our own sins. We may have anger issues. We may have youthful teenage rolling of the eyes issues. We may have other problems at work. How do you work with those things here meditation take your heart the route. Pray over your mouth. Pray over your thinking and pray to God as his Lord, let these things be acceptable and pleasing to you. Why because you're my rock when things are rough You're My Redeemer when I fail. And I fail and you fail, but you're my rock.

There's a lot of scrambling. There's a lot of scriptures in the song that are so great for people to go through depression. I love the songs are so honest. Where are you God how long the Lord will I cry out to you? And I don't I don't see you. Almost every one of those songs at the end. So I'm 13. So I'm 42. He comes back at the end, but I wait for you in the sanctuary. I trust you my rock in the midst of this. Terrible stuff. All right, if you declare with your mouth look at that, so we saw it. Iroot exposed with all our heart here and we saw her mouth. Okay. Now, let's look at Romans 10 9 and 10 and 13th if you declare with what your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved for this with your heart that you believe in or Justify this with your mouth that you profess your faith in her safe for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. The scripture drives you to this scriptures are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus faith.

Wish I had more faith. I wish my dad would have more faith. I wish my children would have more fake. There's a there's a mathematical principle right here. You want to increase your face? What's it say faith comes by hearing and hearing how oh my God. You want to increase your face? That's how you do it. Let the words of my mouth. The meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Oh Lord my rock and my redeemer, this is I love that picture. There's a history to it. I just learned a little bit more this morning, but One application of this picture is first day in heaven. Fleeing to Christ fleeing to Christ. So as we close, I'm not sure how you have forgot to ask if you guys do an invitation for say I'm not going to necessarily ask for anybody to come front or raise your hand do anything like that. We are going to pray. I just plead that we would flee to Jesus Christ don't care. If you're saved or lost. You need to flee the Jesus Christ. I need to flee to Jesus Christ everyday and say to him let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight O Lord my rock and my redeemer, forgive me where I failed. So I spray.

Got to thank you for the opportunity to share your word and a lot of horses in here. I probably overdid it with a lot of versus that's kind of the way I am. I think you would have gave me you gave me a hunger for your word and yet so often I don't see keyword.

got to pray these these friends and Brothers and Sisters in Christ that they would seek your face and that their heart would be Excited and joyous to see your creation and excited to read your word and learn of you. I think you for the love letter of the Bible. That you shared with with us. So your followers that that we might know you better father. There's lots of people out there that don't know you help us to share the good news of the rescue that comes through Jesus Christ. And for each person here individual, I just pray we each one of us would flee to you just like that earlier picture that little girl running to you that we would just run to you with our Joys and our hurts and her hangers that we would just be honest with you and run to you with those things because you are the answer these things in Christ name. Amen.

Thanks. So is that the conclusion Matthew?

Excellent. Excellent. I'm going to do this for a blank screen. There we go.
