Many people who live along the Jersey shore took time to attend Easter sunrise services demonstrating their faith is still strong despite the storms they have endured. One pastor who lead a service said tragedy brings people together in ways they normally would not have. Though two iconic crosses in the area were washed away by Superstorm Sandy in the Fall of 2012, many people came out to show that the storm may have damaged their homes, it did not shake their faith. One woman said she thought the storm actually strengthened her faith. Her thoughts were echoed by 18-year-old Sam Plewa, who said he thought Sandy showed God’s grace. Plewa added, ”What it showed us was our mortality. We often feel we are invisible, but for me, it’s a reminder of how much we need God. Without Him things like this are just impossible to get through.”— Jim L. Wilson and Jim Sandell
