Astrologers from the east maybe from Babylon
With the captivity from Israel to Babylon
Daniel’s prophecies
other prophets writings
or maybe they were given a prophecy from God about the star
but the new star appeared
when they were in the east they saw it and knew what it meant
they made preparations and traveled to Jerusalem
the capital of Israel
where else would the newborn king be?

no one in the city knew anything about the newborn king

they had to go to the palace to find out anything
Harod and all of Jerusalem were in turmoil about the caravan from the east
Harod asks the scribes

scribes looked in the prophecies and found the answer

Harod sent them on their way

the star led them to the house

the were exceedingly glad for the star
what is this star?
this is no ordinary star
Suddenly appeared
then it appeared again it led them to a house in Bethlehem
this was a star like no other
was it seen by others. were others curious to follow it?
if this was a real star this close to earth that it points out a house
it would burn up the earth
soo we are going to look at this star here this morning
on the eve of Christmas
The Shekinah Glory
The Shekinah Glory
Shekinah is not an old testament term
it refers to the Glory that accompanied the people in the desert
it was a cloud by day and pillar of light by night
it stood between the Israelites and Egyptian army until the red sea crossing
Then the angel of God, who had been going before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud along with the darkness, yet it gave light at night. Thus the one did not come near the other all night.
Gods promise to the Nation Israel if they do right
And if you offer your soul to the hungry And satisfy the soul of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your thick darkness will become like midday. “And Yahweh will continually guide you, And satisfy your soul in scorched places, And fortify your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
God’s glory will shine on them

In the cloud men spoke with God
the cloud on mt. Sinai
Above the mercy seat in the Holy of holies
The Glory would come down on the tent of meeting
The people would come to their tent door and stand
as Moses would go to the tent of meeting and speak with God
Shekinah is derived from a word that means dwelling
God dwelling with His people
When the glory was seen ment that God was here
we know that God is every where
but this was extra special situation
this was the physical presence of God
clouded by the light or cloud
In the wanderings the glory would lead the Israelites to the next destination
and would stop when it was time
soo the Glory guides, dwells, gives instruction, and protected
The Star
The Star
this star I propose to you is the Shekinah Glory
This star appeared to the astrologers as a very unique star
something that screams THE KING IS BORN
Giving a message to the Magi
The prophecies bring them to Jerusalem
the Glory leads them to a House
A House the the child lives
the child who is God
the child who’s name Immanuel
“BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.”
Dwelling with us
And when they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
What about us today?
we don’t have the glory. or a guiding star
lets look at what happened to the Magi compared to a believer
The magi recieved a message from God about a future star
and what it means
they see the star and are compelled to go to Jerusalem
to worship the king
the star leads them right to Jesus
and they fall on their knees and worship
bringing their gifts
We on the other hand have the Holy Spirit
we was given the gospel
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that He rose again
the Holy spirit gave us a heart guiding star to Jesus
convicted us of our sin
gave us a conviction of judgement
opened up our mind to receive the good news of Jesus
and we are compelled to fall at the feet of Jesus and worship our Redeemer
is the Holy Spirit guiding your Heart this Christmas season?
is He compelling you to come to the King and worship?
is the Holy Spirit speaking to your heart ? saying
Behold today is the day of salvation
Be like the Magi and don’t give up until you have found the Savior
