The Day Everything Changed

The man who was predicted to fulfill the 200-400 messianic prophecies of the Saviors coming was here. Born of King Davids line from the tribe of Judah in Bethlehem.

The man who would redeem us from sin,

set us free it's penalty and
gave us power to not sin, and
one day set us free from the presence of sin.
The man who would
fulfill the law,
Give his life for our life, and
Raise from the dead.
Luke 2:1–3 NKJV
And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
The normal Roman procedure only required subjects to register where they were living. Traditional Jewish practice required registering in one’s place of birth.
Mary went because they knew the significance of the childs birth.
Angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream
Angel appears to Mary you are highly favored among women
Mary asks, How will this be I have not known a man's? Holy Spirit will come upon you.
Mary's response, let it be done unto me according to your word.
Luke 2:4–7 (NKJV)
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,
to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.
So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Joseph went to Bethlehem. Jesus was to be born in Bethlehem to fulfill prophecy. Micah 5:2 ““But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.””
He was born in poverty
• in a hospital,
• in a comfortable home,
• in the home of a friend or relative,
• under a doctor’s care,
• under the stars of heaven, nor even out in the open,
• but in a smelly stable, the lowest imaginable place for a birth
3. He was born in a corrupt world full of sin and selfishness.
no room in the inn
The best accommodations for a pregnant woman was a manger.
Luke 2:8–14 (NKJV)
Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.
10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Shepherds were often outcasts, not allowed in the city and looked down upon . Jesus came to the humble, to the poor, & to the forgotten. Luke 2:8–12 (POSB KJV Lk): They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Lu. 5:31–32).
Angel said, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.”
Heavenly host says, Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
There may not be peace on earth yet but there will be. We do have oneness with God.
The heavenly host was praising God that the alienation and separation were now being solved in the birth of the “Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
