When an Oregon church was tagged by vandals, the youth group decided to send a message back to the community, rather than cover over the hateful symbols. When the pastor arrived at the church one morning, he saw the graffiti, and called the youth group to help fix the problem. They enlisted the services of an artist in the church and created a mural over the vandal’s work. Kathy Wilson, wife of the youth group leader said they were shocked that someone would feel like they could do something like that. She said the church plans to leave the positively themed mural up for a while. When asked why the youth group decided to fight paint with paint, Wilson said, “It’s covered in love. I think that’s the message of our church. No matter where you’re at or what hate you have in your heart, God covers it with love.”—Jim L. Wilson and Jim Sandell
