Orvile Rogers says he has run over 40,000 miles in his lifetime, and even though he is 95-years- old, he has no intention of slowing down. Rogers started running after a book inspired him years ago, and started running competitively at age 90. Rogers says he has had a life-long love of running. And the book Aerobics by Dr. Kenneth Cooper got him to join the running revolution, and he has set his sights on record setting goals. Rogers has competed in track and field events on the national and international levels for the past five years. Even after suffering a stroke, Rogers was not deterred. He says the stroke left his left hand and leg paralyzed, but he overcame and was running again after a couple of months. Rogers says he expects to be the oldest participant at most events, and that can be a benefit. He adds, “I don’t expect any competition in this age bracket.”—Jim L. Wilson and Jim Sandell

Hebrews 12:1-2 (CEV) (1) Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won't let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us. (2) We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete. He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross, because he knew that later on he would be glad he did. Now he is seated at the right side of God's throne!
