Romans 8:17-19 The glory that shall be revealed
From Passover to Promise (Exodus 12:1-14)
They began their trek through the wilderness to a land of promise
Along this road they had to depend on God for protection, guidance and provision
This road had temptation, difficulty, wars and testings
This is the road we are on as we march toward the promised kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Travellers looking for a greater city

Suffering is not comparable to the glory that will come
God has promised us a place with him (John 14:1-6)
We must not be mindful of where we came (Hebrews 11:8-16)
The Israelites observed the passover as travellers

Travellers living in earnest expectation

Looking back at what God has done in Egypt
God had redeemed them from slavery and purchased them for himself
God had given them all the riches of Egypt and gave them promises of their own country
Looking forward to what God will do in the future
They could not look back with desire of returning or else they would faulter on the way
They had to remain in their faith and hope of what God would do in the future
God is going to create a new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1-4, 22:1-5)

Travellers waiting for the manifestation

All of creation will be redeemed and set free from the curse of sin
Until then we run so that we may obtain
1 Corinthians 9:24-10:13 These are given to us as an example
The Lord’s supper reminds us of the promised kingdom where we will one day eat and drink with our King
1 Corinthians 11:23-29 do until he come
Matthew 26:26-29 I will not drink again until I drink new in my Father’s Kingdom
