God Most High, we bow our hearts before You—the Eternal Savior and Gracious Lord. We echo the words of the psalmist today:
Psalm 92:1–2 NASB95
1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning And Your faithfulness by night,
We give You thanks today for a new year. And though we we face uncertainties of every sort, we can begin a new year with joy and with hope b/c You alone are God and we trust in You to accomplish Your good and perfect purpose in each of our lives, in Your church, and in all Your creation. Help us to approach these times with a bold faith and testimony of your faithfulness each and every day.
We are not unaware that your enemy and ours is at work, dividing peoples and nations, destroying lives, deceiving billions around this world. He is at work in war and so we pray that You would instill peace. We know the aggression against Israel and pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We know many are still dying in the war in Ukraine and so we ask you to preserve life and bring those hostilities to an end—even so we pray for the coming of the LJ and with it the peace and righteousness we long for.
We pray today for Your church and praise You for her, for the witness she has passed on, for the preaching of the gospel, for the love and service of building each other up. We ask you to strengthen us that we would worship you in likemindedness and in great love for one another, help us to serve with humility. As we approach another annual meeting in a couple of weeks, we pray your continued direction and opening of doors that we would bear great witness of your love and grace to those in our community.
Give us understanding of Your Word today that our lives would more readily reflect the glory of LJC who gave Himself for us—we pray these things in His name, Amen.
