Romans 7:7-13 Paul taught in verses 1-6 that once our relationship with the law is dissolved than we enter freedom to enter into relationship with Christ
With this thinking, are we to believe that the law is bad or is the law sin?
Of course not but sin is so evil that it corrupts even good things
Paul teaches that sin uses even the law as an opportunity to corrupt us

Sin produces desire for sin through the law

The Law instructs us about good and evil, what we should do and must not do
The law gives us information about worldly pleasures and desires
When the law says you should not lust, we realize that there are things to lust after
Sin creeps into our hearts and tells us that the law is trying to keep us from good things
Just like satan did to Eve in the garden
Satan produced sin by lying and saying “God knows you will be wise and happy if you eat and God doesn’t want you to have these things”

Sin deceives and kills according to the law

The Law gives life by pointing us to the true obedient one- Christ Jesus
It shows us our sinfulness so that we can get help from God
Just as a doctor tells a patient they are sick so they will seek a cure
Sin promises life but deceives us and brings us to death
The pleasures of sin are just for a moment (Hebrews 11:25-26)
The end is destruction

Sin becomes more and more sinful by the law

The Law grows overtime as opportunities for sin adapt and change
God gave ten commandments and then Moses gave laws to protect the 10
Thou shalt not steal
Do not move the landmark to take your neighbors land
By the end of the OT time that number had
Sin continues to look for more and more opportunities to lead us to death and destruction
As long as we remain in relationship with the law we are suseptable to the attacks of the law
there will always be one more thing to add to our list of accomplishments to achieve righteousness by the law
We must always look to Christ as the one who can save us and free us from the clutches of sin
