Better: Mindset
Cambridge Dictionary: Mindset - a person's way of thinking and their opinions.
Do you know how many thoughts you have per day? According to a new study from psychologists at Queen’s University using MRI brain scans, the study involved 184 participants with an average age of 29.4. They were able to detect thought transitions and count how many thoughts we have per day. On average, participants had 6.5 thoughts per minute or 6,200 thoughts per day.
Other psychological studies suggest that out of all our thoughts, 80% are negative. That’s almost 5,000 negative thoughts per day. No wonder we are under so much stress.
Have you noticed that it is easier to trend toward negative thoughts than positive ones.
We are born into sin and that is why we need a Savior to save us from ourselves. Not a leadership guru.
“What a wee little part of a person's life are his acts and his words! His real life is lead in his head, and is known to none but himself. All day long, and every day, the mill of his brain is grinding, and his thoughts, not those other things are his history.” – Mark Twain

Philippians 2:5–8 NIV
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Have the same mindset as Christ Jesus
The “mind” of Christ means the “attitude” Christ exhibited. “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus”. After all, outlook determines outcome. If the outlook is selfish, the actions will be divisive and destructive.
A better mindset is having the same mindset as Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2:6 NIV
6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
Who being in very nature God
Colossians 1:15 NIV
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
Philippians 2:6 NIV
6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
Used to his own advantage - privileges.
A reporter was interviewing a successful job counselor who had placed hundreds of workers in their vocations quite happily. When asked the secret of his success, the man replied: “If you want to find out what a worker is really like, don’t give him responsibilities—give him privileges. Most people can handle responsibilities if you pay them enough, but it takes a real leader to handle privileges. A leader will use his privileges to help others and build the organization; a lesser man will use privileges to promote himself.” Jesus used His heavenly privileges for the sake of others—for our sake.
2. A Christ-like mindset is using our privileges to help others.
Philippians 2:7 NIV
7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
He made himself nothing - The term "emptied himself" (kenosis) does not mean that Jesus gave up his divinity but that he willingly set aside the privileges and glory of his divine state to become human.
Philippians 2:7 NIV
7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
Nature of a servant - nature or form.
3. A Christ-like mindset is taking the form of a servant.
John 13:2–5 NIV
2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
John 13:6–9 NIV
6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” 7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” 8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” 9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”
John 13:12–17 NIV
12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
I have set you an example - I have done for you.
You will be blessed if you do them.
Philippians 2:8 NIV
8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
humbled himself
What grace! From heaven to earth, from glory to shame, from Master to servant, from life to death, “even the death of the cross!”
4. A Christ-like mindset is a humble self-sacrificing mindset.
Martin Luther King -
Sacrifice and Service: Like Jesus, Dr. King believed in self-sacrifice and service to others. He dedicated his life to the civil rights movement, often putting himself in harm's way for the greater good.
