Hand in a metonymic use

Catholic Daily Readings 1-17-2024: Saint Anthony, Abbot

1Blessed be the LORD, my rock,

who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

For what God has created these hands of ours?
David - his hands to protect his country threatened by the Philistines;
Jesus - calling to us to stretch our withered hands to heal them as to accomplish what they are created to do;
Hands in a metonymic use to symbolize our whole life.
