James 1:2–4 NLT
Dear brothers and sisters,* when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

I. Pursue Optimum Health

3 John 2 NLT
2 Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.

A. Prioritize Proper Nutrition

1. Consuming a proper diet

Consider food the fuel that energizes your body to do what it was created to do…
Eat to live don’t live to eat.
As Christians, we are not to let our appetites control us; rather, we are to control them:
In 1920, there was around 8 man made chemicals found on our foods, now there is over 100,000.
It’s no secret we have a chronic disease crisis in our country
Human beings are not meant to consume large amounts of processed foods and poly unsaturated fatty acids they cause damage to the cells and inflammation in the body.
Better off eating organic fruit; ending with the word berry; strawberry, blackberry, raspberry; wash it in cold water with vinegar and baking soda for 60 seconds.
In a couple weeks we are going to be talking to a doctor about breads and grains.
Proverbs 25:27 NLT
27 It’s not good to eat too much honey, and it’s not good to seek honors for yourself.
Proverbs 23:2 NLT
2 If you are a big eater, put a knife to your throat;
2 Peter 1:5–7 NLT
5 In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
2 Corinthians 10:5 NLT
5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

2. Avoiding excessive indulgence

Proverbs 23:20–21 NLT
20 Do not carouse with drunkards or feast with gluttons, 21 for they are on their way to poverty, and too much sleep clothes them in rags.
Alcohol, nicotine, sugar in excess amounts will harm our bodies.

3. Practice the discipline of fasting

Read parts of article, “The Health Benefit of Fasting”
Gary Brecka: “3 Day Guide To Fasting”
Fasting focuses the emotions and will into a singular cry. It grows the size of your yes toward God. The size of your yes, the depth of your agreement with heaven, is the deciding factor in the affairs of men.
When we agree with God only to the point of discomfort, We create a scenario in which the simple touch of the enemy causes us to back off.
Fasting removes that possibility.
Fasting creates a greater buy-in in the human heart.
Your will carries weight in the spiritual realm.
As you put more of the weight of your will on the scale, it tips in heaven’s favor.
Fasting enables you to put more of your will behind His will.
The degree of your buy-in matters and fasting cultivates and focuses it.
Ancient times it was very common to cleanse the body and enhance your religious practices
Food has not always been readily available
Animal kingdom utilizes it as well,
Caloric restriction, increases efficiency of how the body uses its fuel, increases lifespan and reduces disease in the body.
Autophogy is the process where the body turns on itself and begins to use it’s most efficient resources first, it eats the cellular waste components and turns them into energy. (TAKING OUT THE TRASH)
3500 calories in a pound of fat
Improves hormonal state, mental clarity, weight loss,
Improves lifespan and metabolic markers
improves waste elimination, detoxification, and regeneration of cells
WHAT HAPPENS ON OUR 3 DAY LIFESTYLE FAST EACH MONTH?
0-12 hours of fast our body is still digesting food and insulin is still high
12-18 fat burning begins (ketosis)
18-24 a hormone called glucagon is on the rise and counteracts insulin and begins to stimulate the liver to turn stored glucose into sugars.
24-48 the magic begins (autophogy begins) cleaning your body out at the cellular level. Keeps cell in proper balance
48-54 human growth hormone surge; to help repair tissue with growth hormones; inflammation begins to be reduced at this times as well.
54-72 insulin is increasing it’s sensitivity autophogy peaks
after 72 hours there is evidence that your immune cells are being refreshed and your own stem cells begin to increase in number in blood circulation (stem cells are the same age as you are; they are stored in our bone marrow) released into the blood stream to hunt for tissues that are damaged or inflamed.
Intermittent fasting, and time restricted eating is healthy and encouraged among obese and non-obese people (we want to remain sensitive to insulin; we don’t want insulin resistance)

B. Engaging in Regular Exercise

Movement is life!

1. Maintaining an active lifestyle

1 Timothy 4:8 NLT
8 “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”

2. Incorporating physical activity into daily routines

Proverbs 6:6–8 NLT
6 Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! 7 Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, 8 they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.
3 ESSENTIALS THAT WE NEED HERE ON EARTH:
Magnetism from the earth (bare feet)
we build up a charge that is dispelled by making contact with the earth.
Oxygen from the air (The presence of oxygen is the absence of disease) Wim Hoff
Breathing therapy
Flush out carbon dioxide and bring in oxygen.
What Deep Breathing Can Help
Anxiety Depression Managing stress Improving focus Better sleep Faster recovery from exercise or exertion
Wim Hoff or other video guided breathing 30, hold, deep breath hold 15 X’s 3
Cold water therapy (7:30 youtube cold water exposure)
Vasospasm (the body will constrict blood in extremities and push it to the core and brain; it exercises you vascular system)
Dopamine rush that will last several hours longer than other methods of increasing
Liver will release cold shock protein, ridding the body of free radical oxidation
Activates brown fat, turns on thermostat and regulates
starting at 1 minute and moving to 3 minutes is adequate to the majority of the benefits in the shower
Aging is the pursuit of comfort;
Light from the sun
Going outside give us the essential light that we need;
vitamin D3 is the most important nutrient in the body
early mornings UV rays are the weakest and we can get some natural vitamin D

C. Getting Sufficient Rest and Sleep

1. Establishing a consistent sleep schedule

Psalm 127:2 NLT
2 It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.
Stats on overtime productivity…
You don’t get the same quality of quantity out of a person working a lot of hours.

2. Allowing time for relaxation and rejuvenation

Mark 6:31 NLT
31 Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.
