The motivation

John 3:16 AMP
For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
We have started a journey to discover the how the life of Christ revels God to us
Our theme this year is to “know Him More”
The opening of the book of Hebrews encapsulates the how story in a few short verses:
Hebrews 1:1–5 NKJV
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”?
When asked by Phillip “show us the Father,” Jesus replied
John 14:9–11 NKJV
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
Again Jesus to the Pharisees
John 5:39–40 NLT
“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life.
Mankind at this point had become wrapped up in his own self righteousness that God could no longer be seen or heard!
“But God so Loved the world”
The picture of God had become so distorted and misunderstood that someone had to show man who God was!
Philippians 2:5–8 NLT
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
The love of God demonstrated by the sacrifice of God!
So deep, so high, so vat the love of God that it defies human understanding!
The Pepsi bottle
My son, My love is deep, so vast, so wide that you simply cannot contain it; you can however let me cover you with it for love covers a multitude of sin!
Ephesians 3:18–19 AMP
That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it]; [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!
Paul wrote,
Romans 5:7–11 NLT
Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
“But God so loved the world”
God’s love is an everlasting, never-ending, all sufficient, from His heart to ours!
God cries out to the people
Matthew 11:28 NLT
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Isaiah 1:18–20 NLT
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool. If you will only obey me, you will have plenty to eat. But if you turn away and refuse to listen, you will be devoured by the sword of your enemies. I, the Lord, have spoken!”
We see Jesus weeping over the city with a broken heart
Matthew 23:37–38 NLT
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate.
The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell. It goes beyond the highest star And reaches to the lowest hell. The guilty pair, bowed down with care,God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled  And pardoned from his sin.
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.
When hoary time shall pass away,   And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall;
When men who here refuse to pray,   On rocks and hills and mountains call;
God’s love, so sure, shall still endure,   All measureless and strong; Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—   The saints’ and angels’ song.
Could we with ink the ocean fill,   And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill,   And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above   Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,   Though stretched from sky to sky
The Scripture gives us a clear view of this love of God,
1 Corinthians 13:4–7 NLT
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
God’s motivation toward you is love
If He loved you as a sinner, how much more His love surround you as a saint!
1 John 4:18 AMP
There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection].
Romans 8:35 NLT
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?
Romans 8:37–39 NLT
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Since Hhis love is the motivation for His mission then we can say as the Psalmist
Psalm 36:5–7 NLT
Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.
Do you have shelter today in the wings of the Almighty? Are you running in an endless circle away from the One who gave His life for you?
Gos cries out today….”Come. let us reason together”…
I will end with this verse
John 15:9 NLT
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.
