Seeking First the Kingdom of God

2 Corinthians 1:20 CSB
For every one of God’s promises is “Yes” in him. Therefore, through him we also say “Amen” to the glory of God.

a [yea] All God’s promises are yes and so be it, or yes and truth. In Him they are always yes, and in Him they are always truthful. Not one promise of God is no to the one who will believe and meet the conditions.

When we say “Amen” we are coming into agreement with what is being said.
God provides us with everything we need-
THIS IS A PROMISE
2 Peter 1:3 (CSB)
His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
THERE IS AN ASPECT OF BEING A CHRISTIAN WHERE WE TOTALLY RELY AND TRUST IN GOD
WITH THAT TRUST COMES THE PROMISES OF GOD FOR OUR LIVES

There are assaults against Our faith

The biggest one being worry-
“WHAT IF GOD DOESN’T COME THROUGH?”
For a lot of us the starting point that we approach the promises of God is from a cautionary trial period.
We approach the promises of God as a great theory but how do we practically apply it to our lives?
Psalm 97:10 CSB
You who love the Lord, hate evil! He protects the lives of his faithful ones; he rescues them from the power of the wicked.

How do you battle worry- Where is your treasure?

Money isn’t evil
We need money to do ministry and to live
1 Timothy 6:9–10 CSB
But those who want to be rich fall into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Many believe that as believers we need to take vows of poverty BUT THAT ISN’T IN SCRIPTURE!
BUT IF MONEY IS WHAT YOU ARE PURSUING ABOVE GOD THEN BY ALL MEANS TAKE THE VOW OF POVERTY SO YOU CAN GET YOUR PRIORITIES SET.
I wont be taking any vow, because this Bible speaks more of blessing and provision then it does of lack!
One of the topics that Jesus taught the most about is money!
IN MATTHEW 6 JESUS SPEAKS A GREAT DEAL ABOUT PROVISION AND MONEY.
Matthew 6:19–21 CSB
“Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Jesus saw the Connection of Money and the Heart

Matthew 6:21 CSB
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Understand money is not evil- But the pursuit of it over the kingdom of God is
Jesus takes the matters of the flesh and makes them the matter of our heart-
Matthew 6:22–24 CSB
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness, how deep is that darkness! “No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

The Great question that Jesus asks: What is the focus of our lives?

When we have eyes set on anything other then God we miss the mark- WE GIVE OUR LIVES TO THIS THAT CAN SATISFY- THAT WE CANT TAKE WITH US
MOST PURSUE MONEY BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRAID THEY WONT HAVE ENOUGH.
AND WHEN THEY HAVE ENOUGH THEY NEED MORE
IT IS THE MOTIVES THAT JESUS IS ADDRESSING
What is the goal of your life?
Jesus teaches us this in the Lord’s prayer
Matthew 6:9 CSB
“Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy.
IT BEGINS WITH GOD- AND HIS CLORT
MY LIFE FOR YOU GLORY!
Jesus tells us when you you give dont make it known to all
showing off
But Still Give!
Matthew 6:4 CSB
so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Giving is part of living by faith and trusting in God!

2 Corinthians 9:6–14 CSB
The point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should do as he has decided in his heart—not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work. As it is written: He distributed freely; he gave to the poor; his righteousness endures forever. Now the one who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will also provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the proof provided by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone. And as they pray on your behalf, they will have deep affection for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you.
When Paul is writing this He isn’t speaking about a Garden-
HE IS SPEAKING ABOUT GIVING
THE ONE WHO SOWS “SPARINGLY” -In Faith that God sees
Each person should “decided in their heart”
Why?
Because the Heart is the center! The heart is what is to belong to God-
Deuteronomy 6:4–5 CSB
“Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Jesus taught
Mark 12:30 CSB
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
The heart make us do things out of love!
We need to get to the point where is God calls us to give our response is, “God I love you and I will give it all.”
Matthew 6:25–34 CSB
“Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying? And why do you worry about clothes? Observe how the wildflowers of the field grow: They don’t labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these. If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t he do much more for you—you of little faith? So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
