Authorities in Seattle say an attempted carjacking failed when the three would-be carjackers tried to steal a car none of them could drive. A 70-year-old woman told police that she was getting something out of her trunk when she turned around to see a gun in her face. Three teens demanded her keys and then jumped into her car. Though they tried several times, they could not get the car to move and finally gave up and ran away. The woman was in tears when she called police, but later laughed at the inept carjackers. She told police she never imagined that a stick shift would prevent a carjacking. She said she was happy that she wasn’t harmed and still has the car.– Jim L. Wilson and Jim Sandell
