Transcript
The Gospel:
There is no gospel without the cross.
There is no gospel presentation that lacks the refutation of sin, it should stab their souls till they see CHIRST as the ONLY remedy.
That message should be spread like a marching band rolling through our city!
May all take notice and come to the realization of their sin.
Though we were dead like Lazarus in the grave, God sent His Son to bring to life those who believe in Him
Though we had NO hope and were WITHOUT God in this world! What superior hope can be found in our great Lord who took our place in that rock-hewn grave!
The Prince (AUTHOR) of Life:
I love this title.
Another translation of the greek word renders it ‘The AUTHOR of Life’
Christ IS the author of life, which means He is the creator of all things.
John 1:3–4 “3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life…”
But this property of Jesus is also true of spiritual life! Far greater and higher and noble than the creation of clouds and dirt.
There is no spiritual life of which He is not the author…
Hebrews 12:2 “2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
It’s by our union with Christ, that He quickens us to life in Him
All of my preaching is in vain if thats not true
If Jesus cannot bring forth life unto you or me or this world… all preaching is done in vain.
Be rest assured, He does contain life and how freely He gives it to those who truly seek it.
1 John 5:11–12 “11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.”
The Prince of Life, HIMSELF:
Acts 3:15 “15 but put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.”
Though it’s seldom used it’s one of our Lord’s greatest titles.
He was known as the prince of life before crucifixion for Luke writes: “They put to death the Prince of Life”
He is known as the prince of life at this very moment
He will be known as the prince of life on the day of His appearing when He raises the dead.
No person could ever share that same title as Jesus, nor could any man strip it away from Him
Eternally He will be known as the Prince of Life
There are “princes” today who do not rule or govern but just possess a title. The title of Prince is not an empty one in Jesus Christ
The title alone tells us that he possesses life in a superlative sense, the fullest and maximal sense of the word
In Him is life. John wrote: 1 John 1:2 “2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us—”
He bears the name “The LIFE” in that great passage: “I am the way, the truth, and the life”
He says of himself: Revelation 1:18 “18 and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore”
We have not only a living God, but a living SAVIOR
John 5:26 “26 “For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself;”
All other things will cease to exist, but Christ is the Prince of Life
More than this, He has the power over His OWN life in a way none of us can emulate
He was the God-man who said: John 10:18 “18 “I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again.”
We have a debt to pay as fallen creatures and it’s that we must die. But Jesus owed no debt to the world yet gave His life VOLUNTARILY!
The Prince of Life! The only one with power and authority over life and death itself, CHOSE to die!
Not under compulsion. Not as an obligation. Not to fulfill a debt.
Laid down His life in death, taking our deserved place.
And as the Prince of Life, He bore the right / authority to TAKE His life and RAISE it back up
May we never forget that we don’t live on our own accord.
It wasn’t you who gave yourself the right to live, you’re breathing on lented air. A lented body. And inherited LIFE that is BOUND to die if not united with Christ.
He is indeed and always will be, the Prince of Life.
“Our redeemer lives” “I am the resurrection and the life”
The Prince of Life, FOR ALL:
Acts 3:14–15 “14 “But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 but put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.”
They chose a murderer, but killed the Prince of Life
He lived for their sake, but they killed Him!
Blame the Jews, yes! But also blame yourselves for they serve as a representation of us and our sin also
And on the day of judgement, you will either be guilty of the death of Christ, or you will live by it.
Conclusion:
Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ?
Do you believe He is alive and that you live by Him? Or are you dead in your sins?
We can only be one or the other… either you are dead in your sins or have been made alive in Christ
He that seeks shall find
