Nebuchadnezzar Learns to Surrender
1 «Nabucodonosor, rey, a todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas que moran en toda la tierra: Paz os sea multiplicada. 2 »Conviene que yo declare las señales y milagros que el Dios Altísimo ha hecho conmigo.
We all have a testimony to tell
How many people would you like to share your testimony with? the world?
What if that testimony is shameful and humbling...
What if you are someone important?
Nebuchadnezzer was the King of the known world
We have in Chapter 4 a letter that should be transmitted to every inhabitant of the known world.... “to all the people” “to all nations”, “languages that dwell on the earth”
This chapter is proof that Nebuchadnezzer experienced a life transforming event that has become the Testimony of the one true God intervening in his life....
Remember that The Gospels where written so that people may believe in Jesus the Messiah
Here we find a man writing to every inhabitant of his known kingdom to inform them that the God of the Jews is the one true God Most High
He offers peace to be multiplied in the life of his listeners...
For most of his life Nebuchadnezzer was a cruel ruler
Before being King he was a savage Military General for his father Nabopolasser
He killed of many Jews in their land
Took a large population captive
destroyed their temple
Killed the children of King Jehoiakim and took him captive only to kill him in the streets outside of Jerusalem
Interesting that he is offering peace… Nabu is now a man of peace? what?
This must have been a surprise to those receiving the letter...

“I thought it good to declare” Nebu…
This is a good thing, This is good news “the gospel”
What does he want the world to know?
“The signs”
The proof
If the people make a god… then prove that it has power… prove its claim to divinity
Jesus proved his divinity....
Peter says of Him....

In so… The Most High God demonstrated signs that prove He is the One True God
“The wonders”
The wonderfulness and greatness…
the astonishment and response to the unknown
The Most High God has done this for me...
Why the most high...
Because this is a man that knows about every god that every land has...
He knows that they are useless… idols
THIS GOD IS BIGGER THAN EVERYTHING WE KNOW OF OUR HUMAN EXPERIENCE
This is why he continues to Praise God saying..
3 ¡Cuán grandes son sus señales y cuán potentes sus maravillas! Su reino, reino sempiterno; su señorío, de generación en generación.
He adds… “His Kingdom”
Nebuchadnezzar recognizes that the Kingdoms of men are not eternal… they are temporary...
But Gods dominion is from generation to generation… it will never change
Nebuchadnezzar is getting old.... He knows a little something about Kingdoms...
Imagine how many kingdoms and kings he conquered
But, Through the captivity of Judah… and the testimony of men of God
He has come to know that exists a greater Kingdom....
The Glory of the kingdom of God that is everlasting
So here is his testimony.... It starts with another dream
4 »Yo, Nabucodonosor, estaba tranquilo en mi casa, floreciente en mi palacio. 5 Tuve un sueño que me espantó; tendido en la cama, las imaginaciones y visiones de mi cabeza me turbaron. 6 Por esto mandé que vinieran ante mí todos los sabios de Babilonia para que me dieran la interpretación del sueño.
Time has passed… Nebu has flourished
His Kingdom is strong
He has another dream
Nebu seems to be quite the dreamer..
Again this dream caused him fear and to be troubled
6 Por esto mandé que vinieran ante mí todos los sabios de Babilonia para que me dieran la interpretación del sueño. 7 Y vinieron magos, astrólogos, caldeos y adivinos, y les conté el sueño, pero no me pudieron dar su interpretación,
Here we go again...
imagine these wise men....
they'd be like.... I don't think we should go, remember what happened to the last guys who couldn't give him an answer?
Thank God this time he did not kill them off...
Interesting that He even called on them....
He knew that they could not provide for him an answer
Daniel had already told him so Chapter 2
27 Daniel respondió al rey diciendo: —El misterio que el rey demanda, ni sabios ni astrólogos, ni magos ni adivinos lo pueden revelar al rey. 28 Pero hay un Dios en los cielos que revela los misterios, y él ha hecho saber al rey Nabucodonosor lo que ha de acontecer en los últimos días. Estos son tu sueño y las visiones que has tenido en tu cama:
Nebuchadnezzar also had forgotten about what he declared about Daniels God...
47 El rey habló a Daniel, y dijo: —Ciertamente el Dios vuestro es Dios de dioses, Señor de los reyes y el que revela los misterios, pues pudiste revelar este misterio.
He is impressed with Daniels God
Isn't it amazing that people easily forget the wonders of God… and go back to their old ways.. consulting the wicked...
After the Fiery Furnace -
After he saw the Glory of God in the fiery furnace.... He said the following
28 Y Nabucodonosor dijo: «Bendito sea el Dios de Sadrac, Mesac y Abed-nego, que envió su ángel y libró a sus siervos que confiaron en él, los cuales no cumplieron el edicto del rey y entregaron sus cuerpos antes que servir y adorar a otro dios que su Dios. 29 Por lo tanto, decreto que todo pueblo, nación o lengua que diga blasfemia contra el Dios de Sadrac, Mesac y Abed-nego, sea descuartizado, y su casa convertida en estercolero; por cuanto no hay dios que pueda librar como este».

His Pride is so big it has become a Narcissistic mental disorder
He is impressed by the God of the jews… and maybe entertained by the God of the Jews.... but he is not willing to surrender
You have to be born again!.... Jesus and Nicodemus
Regenerated from within....
Transformed into a new creation
8 hasta que entró ante mí Daniel, cuyo nombre es Beltsasar, como el nombre de mi dios, y en quien mora el espíritu de los dioses santos. Conté delante de él el sueño, diciendo: 9 “Beltsasar, jefe de los magos, ya que he entendido que hay en ti espíritu de los dioses santos y que ningún misterio se te esconde, declárame las visiones de mi sueño que he visto, y su interpretación.
Nebuchadnezzar feels pretty confidant that Daniel can interpret the dream....
Nebu made him chief of all the magi or magicians… wisemen
Nebu trusts that the Spirit of the Holy God is in him
No secret can trouble you.... you are pretty awesome
Explain to me my vision and interpretation ...
This is gonna be good!
Is God gonna tell me that I Am another awesome Golden Head!
Tell me the dream, dream teller!
Nebu tells him the dream....
10 Estas fueron las visiones de mi cabeza mientras estaba en mi cama: »Me parecía ver en medio de la tierra un árbol cuya altura era grande. 11 Crecía este árbol, y se hacía fuerte, y su copa llegaba hasta el cielo y se le alcanzaba a ver desde todos los confines de la tierra. 12 Su follaje era hermoso, su fruto abundante y había en él alimento para todos. Debajo de él, a su sombra, se ponían las bestias del campo, en sus ramas anidaban las aves del cielo y se mantenía de él todo ser viviente. 13 »Vi en las visiones de mi cabeza, mientras estaba en mi cama, que un vigilante y santo descendía del cielo. 14 Clamaba fuertemente y decía así: »‘Derribad el árbol y cortad sus ramas, quitadle el follaje y dispersad su fruto; váyanse las bestias que están debajo de él, y las aves de sus ramas. 15 Mas la cepa de sus raíces dejaréis en la tierra, con atadura de hierro y de bronce entre la hierba del campo; que lo empape el rocío del cielo, y con las bestias sea su parte entre la hierba de la tierra. 16 Su corazón de hombre sea cambiado y le sea dado corazón de bestia, y pasen sobre él siete tiempos. 17 La sentencia es por decreto de los vigilantes y por dicho de los santos la resolución, para que conozcan los vivientes que el Altísimo gobierna el reino de los hombres, que a quien él quiere lo da y sobre él constituye al más humilde de los hombres’. 18 »Yo, el rey Nabucodonosor, he visto este sueño. Tú, pues, Beltsasar, darás su interpretación, porque ninguno entre los sabios de mi reino lo ha podido interpretar; pero tú puedes, porque habita en ti el espíritu de los dioses santos”».
Lets outline the dream
A tree so great and strong its height reached the heavens it could be seen from far off
Lovely leafs, Abundant fruit, Food for all, Shade for beasts, habitat for birds, all flesh ate from it
there is a “watcher” one who keeps watch… An Angel, holy from heaven..
He Instructs
Chop down the tree, cut its branches
strip its leafs, scatter its fruit
Let the beasts and birds depart from it
Leave the stump rooted
Bound with a band of iron and bronce
the stump will be wet with dew of heaven
the stump will eat the grass
His heart will be changed to that of a beast
Let seven years pass
The living must know
The most High rules over the kingdoms of men
He’ll give to whomever he pleases
will set it over the lowest of men
22 tú mismo eres, oh rey, que creciste y te hiciste fuerte, pues creció tu grandeza y ha llegado hasta el cielo, y tu dominio hasta los confines de la tierra.
24 esta es la interpretación, oh rey, y la sentencia del Altísimo, que ha venido sobre mi señor, el rey: 25 Que te echarán de entre los hombres y con las bestias del campo será tu habitación, con hierba del campo te apacentarán como a los bueyes y con el rocío del cielo serás bañado; y siete tiempos pasarán sobre ti, hasta que conozcas que el Altísimo tiene dominio en el reino de los hombres, y que lo da a quien él quiere. 26 Y en cuanto a la orden de dejar en la tierra la cepa de las raíces del mismo árbol, significa que tu reino te quedará firme, después que reconozcas que es el cielo el que gobierna.
Daniel gives Nebu the interpretation
imagine having to stand before the most powerful man in the world to hand him the worst news ever!
He was astonished.... at what he had heard and understood
He became seriously troubled
Dont let the dream trouble you… come on out with it… I want the truth...
When God gives you a message you have to deliver it… no matter how bad or good it is
We learned that back with Samuel...
The Lord gave Samuel a message for Eli… it was not good news… He was just a young man… and Samuel's first sermon was of judgement to Eli...
Daniel his like.... King I wish this was concerning your enemies...
But it concerns you. You are that Tree
The Interpretation
THAT TREE IS YOU! You are that awesome tree!
you are strong,
your greatness has grown to heaven
Your dominion covers the earth
The watcher has decreed that the tree must be chopped and left as a stump bound by iron and bronze. to be wet by the dew and graze with the beasts of the field
Sent away from people
You will live amongst the beasts
and you will eat grass like oxen
you shall be wet by the dew of the heavens
seven years shall pass
Until you know!
The Most High Rules!
Over the kingdoms of men
And he gives it to whomever he chooses
The stump was left bound by iron and bronze
Your kingdom will be bound and assured to you
After you Know! that Heaven Rules
27 Por tanto, oh rey, acepta mi consejo: redime tus pecados con justicia, y tus iniquidades haciendo misericordias con los oprimidos, pues tal vez será eso una prolongación de tu tranquilidad. 28 Todo esto vino sobre el rey Nabucodonosor:
Daniel warns him....
Take my advice
Get rid of your sin...
Your righteousness… Your Huge pride.... Your Narcissistic behavior
Your iniquities (Being unfair, immoral behavior, stealing from the poor to make yourself rich)
Show mercy to the poor
Maybe God will relent and extend… lengthen your prosperity
I wonder what Nebuchadnezzar response was
The scripture does not say
Maybe it shook him
Maybe he thought to himself… he is bluffing
He can have power over dreams
Power over fire
But he doesn't have power over me
Text says that 12 months later all these things happened.
28 Todo esto vino sobre el rey Nabucodonosor: 29 Al cabo de doce meses, paseando por el palacio real de Babilonia, 30 habló el rey y dijo: «¿No es esta la gran Babilonia que yo edifiqué para casa real con la fuerza de mi poder, y para gloria de mi majestad?». 31 Aún estaba la palabra en la boca del rey, cuando vino una voz del cielo: «A ti se te dice, rey Nabucodonosor: “El reino te ha sido quitado; 32 de entre los hombres te arrojarán, con las bestias del campo será tu habitación y como a los bueyes te apacentarán; y siete tiempos pasarán sobre ti, hasta que reconozcas que el Altísimo tiene el dominio en el reino de los hombres, y lo da a quien él quiere”».
12 months went by....
he had every opportunity to repent...
Dont wait to be humbled.... Repent today
When God humbles you it is for restoration
When the devil humbles you it is for death
“Ebenezer Scrooge”
This story reminds me of Ebenezer Scrooge
He was given an opportunity to repent from his ways
He saw visions of spirits would visit him to show him what his life has done to others...
If he doesn't repent This is what will happen to him… Death and no one will care
But Scrooge “REPENTS” surrenders.... Changes....
But Nebuchadnezzar did not
Instead.... He was walking in his beautiful palace
He is credited for building one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.... “The Hanging Gardens of Babylon” Trees, and Bushes and Flowers on the buildings… Never before seen

A Royal Dwelling for my MIGHTY POWER
For The HONOR of my MAJESTY “Royal power splendor”
V31 - While these words were still in his mouth
He heard a voice
“King Nebu… To you it is spoken
The Kingdom is departed from you
You shall be driven from people
You will leave with the beasts
You shall eat grass like oxen
Till seven years pass
Until you know tat the Most High Rules over the kingdoms of men.... and he gives it to whom ever He chooses
33 En la misma hora se cumplió la palabra sobre Nabucodonosor: Fue echado de entre los hombres, comía hierba como los bueyes y su cuerpo se empapaba del rocío del cielo, hasta que su pelo creció como plumas de águila y sus uñas como las de las aves.
Suddenly Nebu was transformed into a beast....
That is where Beauty and the beast got their idea
This is worse than the werewolf
Because this one is true
He suddenly began to run away into the wilderness
He ate grass like oxen
His body would get wet by the dew by night
His hair grew like eagles feathers
and his nails like claws
This is what pride does to people who do not surrender to God...
They turn into beats
Living lost… losing their minds
Eating grass and weeds...
Their resemblance turns into wild animals, harry with claws...
DONT ALLOW YOUR PRIDE TO TURN YOU INTO A BEAST
12 Esos hombres, hablando mal de cosas que no entienden, como animales irracionales nacidos para presa y destrucción, perecerán en su propia perdición, 13 recibiendo la recompensa de su injusticia, ya que tienen por delicia el gozar de deleites cada día. Estos son inmundicias y manchas, quienes aun mientras comen con vosotros se recrean en sus errores. 14 Tienen los ojos llenos de adulterio, no se sacian de pecar, seducen a las almas inconstantes, tienen el corazón habituado a la codicia y son hijos de maldición.
34 «Al fin del tiempo, yo, Nabucodonosor, alcé mis ojos al cielo y mi razón me fue devuelta; bendije al Altísimo, y alabé y glorifiqué al que vive para siempre: »“Su dominio es sempiterno; su reino, por todas las edades.
What caused Nebu to find mercy.... He lifted his eyes toward Heaven....
1 Alzaré mis ojos a los montes. ¿De dónde vendrá mi socorro?
El Hijo prodigo
14 Cuando todo lo hubo malgastado, vino una gran hambre en aquella provincia y comenzó él a pasar necesidad. 15 Entonces fue y se arrimó a uno de los ciudadanos de aquella tierra, el cual lo envió a su hacienda para que apacentara cerdos. 16 Deseaba llenar su vientre de las algarrobas que comían los cerdos, pero nadie le daba. 17 Volviendo en sí, dijo: “¡Cuántos jornaleros en casa de mi padre tienen abundancia de pan, y yo aquí perezco de hambre! 18 Me levantaré e iré a mi padre, y le diré: ‘Padre, he pecado contra el cielo y contra ti. 19 Ya no soy digno de ser llamado tu hijo; hazme como a uno de tus jornaleros’ ”.
Este hijo prodigo estaba como Nebu.... Estaba tirado en el piso deseando comer la comida de los serdos.... esta como una bestia
PERO ENTRO “EN SI”
Levantate… y ve al Padre....
Ackowledge your sin
5 Mi pecado te declaré y no encubrí mi iniquidad. Dije: «Confesaré mis rebeliones a Jehová», y tú perdonaste la maldad de mi pecado.
Nebu.... le regreso su entendimiento.... Entro en Si
Y Bendijo al Dios Altisimo.... Y adoro y Honro a El que vive para siempre!!!!!
35 Considerados como nada son los habitantes todos de la tierra; él hace según su voluntad en el ejército del cielo y en los habitantes de la tierra; no hay quien detenga su mano y le diga: ‘¿Qué haces?’ ”. 36 »En el mismo tiempo mi razón me fue devuelta, la majestad de mi reino, mi dignidad y mi grandeza volvieron a mí, y mis gobernadores y mis consejeros me buscaron; fui restablecido en mi reino, y mayor grandeza me fue añadida. 37 »Ahora yo, Nabucodonosor, alabo, engrandezco y glorifico al Rey del cielo, porque todas sus obras son verdaderas y sus caminos justos; y él puede humillar a los que andan con soberbia».
Nebu tells us in his testimony what he learned:
All inhabitants are like nothing “No te creas”
God does what he wants “God is Soverign” en el cielo y en la tierra
You cant stop him!
Because Nebu repented and Recognized that God Rules...
God restored his reason
Glory and Honor to his kingdom
He was restored as King
Majesty was added to him
BUT Here is the Result… Here is the work of God in this mans life
Now I Nebu.... Say with me....
Adoro, Exalto, y Honro al Rey de los cielos
Sus hobras son Verdad, sus caminos son Justos....
Y el puede humillar a los que andan en soberbia
6 porque Jehová es excelso, y atiende al humilde, pero al altivo mira de lejos.
Nebu.... llego a ser Rey por medio de su orgullo y Dios lo humillo
Pero Nebu.... se arrepintio
Como llegho Jesus a ser Rey de Reyes y Senor de Senores?
Se humillo hasta lo ultimo....
5 Haya, pues, en vosotros este sentir que hubo también en Cristo Jesús: 6 Él, siendo en forma de Dios, no estimó el ser igual a Dios como cosa a que aferrarse, 7 sino que se despojó a sí mismo, tomó la forma de siervo y se hizo semejante a los hombres. 8 Mas aún, hallándose en la condición de hombre, se humilló a sí mismo, haciéndose obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz. 9 Por eso Dios también lo exaltó sobre todas las cosas y le dio un nombre que es sobre todo nombre, 10 para que en el nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que están en los cielos, en la tierra y debajo de la tierra; 11 y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es el Señor, para gloria de Dios Padre.
