1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.
14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. 1 For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness. 3 Because of this he is obligated to offer sacrifice for his own sins just as he does for those of the people. 4 And no one takes this honor for himself, but only when called by God, just as Aaron was. 5 So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”; 6 as he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.” 7 In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. 8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. 9 And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, 10 being designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.

Introduction
We continue looking in detail at the reply of the Shulamite to the question “What is your beloved more than another beloved”. As we apply it to Christ and his relationship to us so we see how amazing our Lord is. Already we have seen him as King now we see him as the Great High Priest.
The High Priest fulfilled a vital role in Israel, representing us to God and God to us. Jesus performs this role in a way that totally eclipses the role of the earthly High Priest.
In the Old Testament, the primary purpose of the high priest was to serve as a representative and mediator between the people and God. The office was established with Aaron.
The Day of Atonement
Priest - someone who is authorised to perform the sacred rites of a religion especially as a mediator agent between humans and God.
A vicar is a representative, deputy or substitute; anyone acting "in the person of" or agent for a superior

His eyes. Rather, “His eyes are as doves”—the deep blue pigeon, the common dove in the East, whose brilliant plumage vibrates around his neck every sparkling hue, every dazzling flash of colour. This pigeon, standing amid “the torrents of water,” or the foam of a waterfall, would be a blue centre with a bright space, like the iris of the eye, surrounded by the white[1]

His eyes are pure eyes (unable to approve of any sin), knowing eyes (thoroughly acquainted with his people), discerning eyes (in loving wisdom ordering all things for our good), loving eyes (forever looking upon us with complacent delight), and on one occasion in the four Gospels they are weeping eyes (feeling for us and bearing us upon his heart).
