Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. (Mt. 5:5)

NV 3/21/99 p.m.

OS: Three basic questions govern our decisions in life.

·        What do I want out of life? (Disciple of Jesus)

·        What will it cost? (Discipline)

·        Am I willing to pay the price? (Be brought under control)

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

I.                  Define “Meekness” – Gentle, Considerate.

A.   Illu – Nightmare (Once wild, out of control, now trained, in control, same strength)

B.    Meekness is not weakness! Strength!

C.   Meekness is simply a will that has been tamed and brought under control.


II.               Moses – Numbers 12:3, Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all men that were on the face of the earth.

A.   While a young man he killed an Egyptian. His rescue of Jethro’s daughters from the shepherds.

B.    After coming under God’s control he did not become timid or weak. He was strong to lead a Nation of people.

III.           Jesus – Matthew 11:29, Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am meek (gentle) and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls.

A.   Strong determination, Strong Words, Strong Actions.

1.     Denounced Pharisees for their hypocrisy.

2.     Clearing of the temple.

IV.            How are we to be meek?

A. Under God’s control, Make a stand.
