Ephesians 4:1 CSB
Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received,

INTRO—

Soooo, let’s start walking! [We’re getting right back on that in the gym!]
Like Fats Domino — “I’m walkin’, yes indeed, and I’m talkin’...”
We’ve been shown our standing—IN CHRIST—and the beauty of all that means.
Now we are beginning Paul’s emphasis on some important impacts BEING IN CHRIST brings to our lives.
Walking…is healthy.
WALKING TOGETHER...

EXHORTATION [to Walk Together] (EPHESIANS 4.1-3)

“Urge” (you) [exhort, encourage, call alongside; v. 1]
Walk [come on get up; get going]
Walk Worthily
Humility, Gentleness, Patience, Love, Unity, Peace
[This should sound familiar to us…another of Paul’s prison letters, Galatians…5.22-23—the Fruit of the Spirit.]

EXPLANATION [of Walking Together] (EPHESIANS 4.4-6)

“There is” [The List; the ‘There is’ is supplied in most English translations; v. 4]
Another trinitarian outline from Paul [Eph. 4.4-6; 3.16-19; 1.3-14]
One Spirit (v. 4) — Hope, Sustain
One Lord (v. 5) — Redemption
One Father (v. 6) — Creator

EQUIPPING [for Walking Together] (EPHESIANS 4.7-12)

“Grace” [favor, grace]… “Was Given” [given, granted, provided]… “To Equip” [completing, furnishing, sewing]
Grace (-iously) Enabled [v. 7]
Jesus’ gift(s) to his people (church; own)
**Ephesians 4.8-10 = Essentially answers, “Who else but God could do this?”**
Psalm 68:18 “You ascended to the heights, taking away captives; you received gifts from people, even from the rebellious, so that the Lord God might dwell there.”
Gifted to Give [v. 11-12]
Verse 11...These are (firstly) ministries, not clerical offices.
Apostles, Prophets (Deborah, Hulda, Anna, Philip’s 4 daughters (Acts 21.8-9)), Evangelists (Priscilla), Pastors, Teachers (Deborah, Priscilla)
That we ALL build up the body of Christ. (v. 12)

EXPECTATION [in Walking Together] (EPHESIANS 4.13-16)

“Until” [until, at length (eventually), at last (finally)]
We reach unity. (v.13)
We grow into maturity. (v. 13)
We speak the truth [in love]. (v. 15)

CONCL—

Walking… [helps with…]
Stamina (cardio, lose weight) [constancy, consistency]
Strength (cardio, legs—muscles & bones) [conviction]
Stress (reduce/relieve) [compassion, care]
INVITATION
Salvation
Walking [at all…or worthily]
Perseverance [until…stick with it]
Ephesians 4:16 CSB
From him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building itself up in love by the proper working of each individual part.
