V 17
the people were elated about the power Jesus had given to them
they returned with Joy
real Joy comes from the Holy Spirit
fruit of the Spirit Love, Joy
they were able to cast out demons in Jesus name
they had healed people
spread the good news of the kingdom
V 21 Jesus rejoiced greatly
V 18 Jesus was watching
what did Jesus see?
was it the time that Satan was kicked out of his position?
or is Jesus looking foreward to the time satan is put in his place?
V 18 Jesus was watching in real time. he was watching the demons being taken care of like lightning
lighting strikes on to satan’s power
every time someone gets saved satan’s power is struck down
V 19 Nothing will injure you
not talking physically but spiritually
snakes scorpions are satanic representations
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
He who indeed did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?
Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;
who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will affliction, or turmoil, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Just as it is written, “FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE COUNTED AS SHEEP FOR the SLAUGHTER.”
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
all of this stuff is worthy of Joy but what does Jesus tell us is more important
what is something more worthy of rejoice in?

the Lamb book of Life is what we are looking at this morning

or the Book of Life
A registry of the names that belong to the Son
there are books in Heaven written by the scribes of God
or are they names written by the finger of God?
these people whose name is in this book have been appointed to eternal life
or is the popular hymn correct
there is a new name written down in glory
when a person is saved the name is written down

And the white-robed Angels sing the story,

is this a new name?
or a name that is older than time?
can our names be blotted out of the book of life?
a lot of questions have been raised here
we will go to God’s word and see if we can find the answers
The Book Of Life
The Book Of Life
V 20 names are written in Heaven
by the tone of Jesus we can know that these names are a special set of names
a list that is worth rejoicing over
the highest of all privileges
in Hebrews 12.
speaking of us in the future
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels,
to the festal gathering and assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,
gathered in the New Jerusalem
those who are enrolled in Heaven
God the Judge who has Justified us
we have been made perfect
speaking of the tribulation time
And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain.
we see here that the ones who’s name is written will not worship the beast
when were the names written? at the creation
as God through the Son is creating the world
the Father is writing the names in the book of Life
Jesus is creating a world with the perfect environment
food air water to sustain life
the Father is putting into a roster a list of names who are going to be the bride of His Son
a name waiting for a soul to be born
you could say that God picked out your name
and as Jesus is creating the world , the Father writing down the names
Jesus knows that He will be the Lamb who is slain
but we see him in Heaven with his bride standing around the throne
Then I saw in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and in the midst of the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.
And He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sits on the throne.
And when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slain and purchased for God with Your blood people from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
“And You made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign upon the earth.”
Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands,
saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”
And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be the blessing and the honor and the glory and the might forever and ever.”
And the four living creatures kept saying, “Amen.” And the elders fell down and worshiped.
your name is not a new thing written in heaven
but is as old as time
and what about blotting out?
can our names be blotted out?
in
‘He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments, and I will never erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
overcoming is not something that is a test it is who we are
we in Christ and Christ is in us
“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
overcomers == conquerors
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
No, but in all these things we prevail completely through the one who loved us.
we will overcome
we will completely prevail
we will be more than conquerors
are you ready to rejoice now?
our life should be a constant praise
if you are a child of God
If you have repented and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ
If Jesus is your Lord
Your names are written in the Lambs book of Life
