Joy In Knowing Truth

Truth Is The Bases For Everything.

Men today diligently search for scientific truth, and when a great discovery is made, they celebrate.
How much more is the rejoicing when those who are hungering and thirsting for truth find it.
When mankind wants the truth they will find it.
Matthew 7:7 (ESV)
7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
When mankind seeks truth and wants to understand it they will.

32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
When mankind has an unwavering desire for truth they will not reject it.

Joy In Knowing God

God Is The Inevitability Of Truth.

When one seeks truth they will inevitably learn about God the Father, Son, and Spirit.
Romans 1:19–20 ESV
19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
When one seeks truth and finds God they will seek the truth about God.
There are a lot of people that know “of God” but have no idea who God really is because they desire to think of God in terms of their desires and wants.
“God will simply convert everyone into a Christian so they can go to heaven”
“I know the Bible says X or Y “but” that was not my experience.”
God wants us to “know the real” him and not some man made caricature.
John 1:14 ESV
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 14:7 ESV
7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
John 17:3 (ESV)
3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Summary

When truth is desired above all and God is discovered in that pursuit of truth there is great joy in knowing God and having God’s joy fill us.
John 17:13 (ESV)
13 But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
There is no greater joy than knowing the truth about God for us because we learn the truth about the…

Joy In Obtaining Forgiveness

Forgiveness Is The Inevitability Of Jesus.

The beauty of knowing the truth about God is the inevitability of knowing the Savior Jesus the Christ.
That Jesus is the Father’s free gift for our sins.
Romans 6:23 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8 (ESV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith…
That Jesus taught the will of the Father and the words of eternal life.
John 7:16–18 (ESV)
16 So Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. 17 If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. 18 The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.
John 6:68 ESV
68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,
That the will of the Father, which Jesus taught, leads us to having our sins washed away and eternal life for those that stay faithful to them.
John 5:24 ESV
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
Acts 2:36–38 (ESV)
36 “Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” 37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Summary

When truth is desired above all and God is discovered in that pursuit of truth there is great joy in knowing God and having God’s joy fill us because we know through Jesus our sins are washed away.
Acts 8:38–39 ESV
38 And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. 39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing.
Psalm 51:12 ESV
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
There is no greater joy in obtaining truth in God and having our sins washed away because of the…

Joy In Eternity

Eternity Is The Inevitability Of Forgiveness.

The entire reason Jesus gave up heaven, became the man Jesus Christ, taught the will of the Father, and shed his blood was to bring “us” the joy of eternity.
God sent his son in joy knowing it would bring us eternal joy.
Isaiah 53:10 (NKJV)
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him…
Jesus willingly came to this earth to bring us eternal joy.
Hebrews 12:1–2 ESV
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
When our sins are washed away we are sealed with eternal life by having our names written in the book of life.
Ephesians 1:13–14 ESV
13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
Revelation 3:5 ESV
5 The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

Summary

There is no greater joy than knowing the truth about God, the fruit of that pursuit in learning of God’s love for us and his desire for us to live with him for an eternity by sacrificing his son for our sins and washing those sins away.
Romans 12:12 ESV
12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Conclusion

When one desires truth above all, seeks the truth about God, receives forgiveness of sins in the truth of God, and finds eternity with God in doing so how can one not constantly be producing the “fruit of the Spirit in joy.”
It’s no wonder we find the word “rejoice” so much in the scriptures.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 (ESV)
16 Rejoice always
Philippians 4:4 ESV
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
Invitation
Isaiah 59:1–2 ESV

Philippians 2:6–7 ESV
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 ESV
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
Romans 6:3–5 ESV
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
1 John 1:7 ESV
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
